Anyone know of a modification for Work Order that allows for greater decimal precision? Client has four decimal precision and has no ability to produce in the 100Ks - which they do often. @JimWoodhead - does DSD?

DSD's 6 Decimal Precision is probably what you need.

Unfortunately, the decimal precision probably won't work for you unless DSD has really corrected the issue. When it was at MaCabe, when you had a bigger field to the right of the decimal, you lost the ability to have a big number to the left. Maybe DSD let's you have it both ways now by somehow expanding the actual field size.

It's the standard problem with the way Sage has left the decimal precision in MAS. If you want decimal precision to the right, you lose it on the left. Seriously, how stupid is that? Still ticks me off. It is one of the very first things I discussed with Erika Jelovsik when I first started working with SOTA...and here I am with the same d**n issue.

Well at least look at the bright side - at least YOU are still working with SOTA..................

But good heavens that was almost 20 yrs ago and they've still not done anything about this issue no matter how many times it was brought up (annually by lots of us). Hopefully there's solution out there, but if not...not sure what we'll do.

Macabe's was the only one that I'd used in the past and wasn't a total solution as you've already pointed out - a gain on the right is a lose on the left. How many decimal places do you need?

I need at least one more to the left of the decimal to get to 100K qtys. They have selected 4 decimals to the right and I can't get them to back of a decimal. May just have to have them make two WOs to complete one production run.

Sage isn't the only one with this dilemma. I was with another software vendor this week (not a competitor, BTW) and they have the same issue, although they have a total of 10.

    Could a u/m conversion help?

I sometimes create an alterante u/m such as 1K for per thousand. Then the decimals and full qty/cost fields can handle the data. There are sometimes some rounding issues, but few with a straight per thousand multiplier. Does this apply to your situation?

I've been trying to work out a UOM solution, but the way they produce and their modifications to UOM for Sales is really stymieing the situation. The system only allows for a standard UOM, where do you get the alternate @ClarkWalliser? Or have I missed another new feature?

I believe it has the flexibility.

In W/O Entry, you can choose the UOM for the parent, the components, and in completion entry. I attached a word doc, since I don't have a clue how Jeffry does his little snippets!
