Oh - I apologize. It seemed that you were just polling to assess the group's general skill level. First order of business - kick everyone out and make a backup. Then, you will need to change the field length in the actual database and then find the meta data record for that field in custom_edits. Then, in CRM you need to refresh the metadata. You might need to restart IIS but it shouldn't be necessary.
