Sage 100

Anyone have issues where the daily transaction register on v4.5 Sage 100 Advanced won't post initially on some transactions and suddenly a month later the customer says that they have the transaction showing un-posted in their DTR ready to print and post? Not sure if this is any type of an issue that someone has already seen ?

Have you witnessed said event? Sounds more like somebody forgot to update the DTR after the module update and now someone noticed the issue and ran the GL DTR............

I'm with Jeff but they might have been updating from the register then the DTR. If you go an just run the DTR from the menu of the module you will see what was not posted... it will not show up on the DTR you are running from the register. I hope that makes sense.

That's the first suspicion but unfortunately there are several different dates which appear. I've had this happen once before on an older version of MAS where the customer said that AP transactions suddenly re-appeared. Nothing recent though.

I had it happen to a client and then I tested it on I think 4.5 Update your register and say no to DTR then do another one or two and fully post it - you will not see the first journal one on your DTR - you have to go to menu - DTR and run it from there. Have not retested it with new service pack on but that is what could have happened. They ran the DTR from the menu....

Just tested it 4.5.3 and if you don't update the DTR right after the register is sits in DTR till you go into that module and print from DTR.

I always thought that the DTR update from GL would catch them all? The concern is that the customer claims they're updating DTR each day which would seem like it catches everything.

The GL DTR does catch everything. I think Diane is talking not updating the GL transactions during the module update. If you don't update it the first time during the module update, then the only way to update it is from the GL DTR.

I always encourage someone in the accounting department to check the GL DTR on a regular basis.

@WayneSchulz yes you are right in the good old days - if you didn't updatethe DTR then the next time it would show up but apparently not in 4.50. @JeffSchwenk I think it doesn't show up in the GL DTR in 4.50 but that I did not test. I tested it in AP invoice data entry and again posted the register but not the DTR - said no to that. Then put in more invoices in AP with different date posted the register and the DTR. The first journal was not on it like it use to be.

I think this was a feature ""enhancement"" several versions ago. I know when it first came out, it took a bit to catch on.

Jeff's description is our experience. Running DTR from a module only catches the current batch. It looks to me like Sage made it easier to run a true DAILY TR. You would disable it for the module process, and then run a single transaction report/posting from the GL menu at the end of the day.

I thought this was a known issue - I think I posted about this over 6 months ago - or ""thought"" about posting it... I have 3 clients that I know of on MAS 200 4.4 and 4.5 that have a periodic issue where they print the DTR from a module, but don't update it. The next time they print the DTR in that module, only the new entry shows. The previous one is not there. Usually if they print the DTR from GL, it shows these ""missing"" entries. But I have encountered a couple cases where they did not show in the GL DTR, but did when running the module DTR. So now I know it was not just a fluke. Others have seen these UFOs! (Unidentified Financial Objects)

I've had it happen quite a few times and they only update once you rerun the DTR from the module menu or the GL menu.

We have seen this also. Client will complain that DTR has disappeared. They try to print from module but it doesn't come out. We ask that they preview the DTR from GL and some have found several complete module DTRs going back several months. It was almost like a flag had been set. Old KB res ID 494391 talks about a change Sage made and that was probably responsible for most of what we saw.

FWIW, I just ran several IM transactions through a 4.4 installation and did not print the DTR's afterwards, except for the final one which only included that one so I did not update it. I then ran it from the IM Main menu and all registers were included. I did not try running it from GL however.

I logged in an verified the GL_DailyPosting.M4T was empty and reinitialized it. The file was about 13 mb in size. Not sure if there is some corruption that crept in there or if there is some other bug that could be happening.

I had to do the same transactions in the customer's live company today and this time, I went into GL and printed the DTR - all registers were included. Must have been somethng with their file as you said @WayneSchulz .
