Anyone have experience with this? Is it new? I assume they outsource the counting to some third party. Introducing Sage Inventory Services Sage Inventory Services is a full line of on-site physical inventory services that helps companies of all sizes address the fact that 15-30% of their fixed assets are no longer usable, lost, or stolen yet still listed on their register. With Sage Inventory Services our team of inventory experts will conduct a physical fixed asset inventory, tag new assets, and leave your client with an updated Sage FAS or Excel database. More importantly, it can help your client eliminate those ""Ghost Assets,"" potentially saving them thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars in tax and insurance overpayments

First I saw of it. I don't think it'll go anywhere. Small customers will just look in the back room and count themselves, and larger clients will have several physical locations/staging areas/leftovers/etc that complicate the process. It's just easier to have the folks who know where the stuff is do the counts. If clients want an outside vendor, there are local resources for this task (including the channel).

An inventory count is only as good as your housekeeping, processes and procedures. Having someone come in to do the actual count only works well if the client is firing on all three above AND if the product is bar coded. This could be another area where the reseller could expand their services. I've helped several clients with this. Mark hits it on the head.

How would this even work? Is Sage going to fly around a team of people to customer sites to do physicals? Or are they going to sub-contract firms throughout the country? LIke Mark said, I don't think can go anywhere. The price to pay for this service has got to be more than telling Joe, Sue and Bob to plan on spending the weekend doing the inventory count (that's what I've seen in the past).

I am nearly positive it's an outsourced service.
