Anyone have any recommendations for label printer models (or disrecommendations) with Sage 100? I have a customer looking to replace their ancient label printers left over from before they were spun off from a company that went bankrupt running on SAP...probably the only conversion I have ever done where NO ONE EVER said ""Why doesn't it work like the old system?"" about anything...

I like Zebras. I like zebras, too, but I like any of the Zebra models I've ever worked with.

Zebra M4 and M6 are good heavy duty ones. I have a client using Datamax label printer for smaller jobs, I don't know the exact model of the Datamax offhand. that one works well too. We has some printer driver issues when we first tried to print from Crystal reports but once we got the latest drivers installed it all worked nicely

Thanks. Followup question - is there any reason to go above 203 dpi? No logos involved, just text and bar code

I'll add my vote for Zebra printers as well. We've never had a problem with one other than wearing out after 10 years of heavy use. (Customer still complained, of course.)

One more thing - don't let your clients do like one I worked with - they bought their label printer off Ebay with no documentation and no software... *sigh*

I've only worked with Barcodes and text; the 203 DPI has been sufficient. - I've will say that i have had times where really small barcodes are not readable by the scanners, and wondered if that might be a reason to go with a higher resolution, although I don't know for certai if it was the scanners or the printer. we just made the barcode larger and moved on. :)

Zebra printers work well for me but I don't use them with MAS, just the BC label software..........

That brings up a good question. What software is everyone to print the labels. I still have a few clients using MAS Print. What are the other favorites?

Alll but one of my clients are printing directly from MAS. The other is using something ancient that I wouldn't recomment.

I have a client using a Zebra GX420 TT with alot of success

I have clients printing from Crystal, MAS Print, and BarTender. Most use 203dpi, but a few clients have small labels (1.25"" wide) and use 300 or 600 dpi printers. They mostly use Zebra printers (2844, S600, ZM400), but some use Datamax or Epson. I would recommend Zebra in general though.

You can find the ZM400s for around $1,500 online without much effort.

Depending on how heavy the duty is, Zebra S4M's run a tad over $700. More importantly, make sure you select the right media for the environment!!!!

If you need industrial printer for 24/7 operation - I like both the Zebra 105sl and Sato GL408e for latest feature set, emulation, compliance labeling, and RFID capabilities.

It seems to be in a coma at least until Walmart circles back around to it.
