Anyone have a preference for CenturyBiz over American Payment Solutions? Customer currently using APS is getting emails from CenturyBiz and wants to know if she should follow up with them. Rates similar? Anything else I should know about before telling her both are better than SPS but why switch from APS to CenturyBiz?

I think credit card processors can be like insurance - you should get rate quotes periodically to keep them all honest.

If they want another option to compare in addition to Century, I would recommend VIP Payments (who I believe is an affiliate member) Miah Green miah@vipintegratedpayments.com

I have used Click 2 Pay from American Payments as a new feature of Sage 100. I had one customer grab it and I think more would except they're fearful of converting a cash pay customer ( zero fee ) into a credit card pay ( fee ).

Always a concern. What do you get from the customer by offering them convenience especially if they are a steady payer. Can you eliminate an FTE in the collections department? Will they buy more? Will they pay faster? Why bother if they still take 30 days and THEN pay by credit card? Is your checking account interest bearing? Will the higher daily balance reduce your monthly bank service fees or can you use the funds to reduce your line of credit balance. Many CC payers use their card for building airline mileage or other personal perks. But the truth is, you are paying for these awards via increased merchant fees. Just take a look at the monthly merchant statement. One of our members allow CC payments on invoices less than 5K, requires check or ACH for all big ticket items. I am sure they are not the only ones. With the Click To Pay, you can enable this feature at the customer maintenance level. So you can have some selectivity. I have been told that a future enhancement will be having this ability at the invoice level. That way you could script it to enable below a dollar amount and not have it for large dollar purchases. Bottom line, as a reseller, we can assist our clients with cost/benefit analysis showing them the financial benefit of providing this convenience to their customers. Convenience for convenience sake alone will usually not tip the scale.

@JeffSchwenk I have more issues/encounters with customers who use Sam or Sally the local banker and the local bank is handling the merchant account and rarely looks at the fees and are reluctant to do so out of some sense of loyalty. I advise everyone to give this a review at least every two years. I rarely refer outside this group so I usually will offer up names of current affiliates for the customer to contact.

Agree. I have local user that is paying about 35K per YEAR too much because they are banking local. Hoping to switch them soon. This needs to be sourced at least that often.
