Anyone have a current opinion regarding a good EDI vendor for Sage 100? I know Sage currently endorses TrueCommerce.

SWK. Just went live with a new Mapadoc implementation this past 9/1.

Depends on a lot of factors but transactional volume and the number of trading partners is very important. How integrated do you want to be?

We have one client very satisfied with Mapadoc/SPS. We also recently implemented a Kissinger solution that eliminated the VAN. We have two clients using TC very successfully.

We have a not-too-happy client using Kissinger but others that are satisfied with them.

I have a client using True Commerce. It works pretty well. Also consider what documents you need to trade and if the EDI vendor supports them.

I use either B to B Visions or Map A Doc. I find both are good.

I think it depends on the needs of the customer and volume, also if they need ASN's. True commerce is nice for basic 810's and 850's because it is all done outside Sage 100. (Uses Vi to integrate). On the other hand, both SWK mapodoc and Kissinger Sales Partner are better integrated into SAGE 100. So if you have any volume IMHO the latter solutions work better. Personally I have worked with Kissinger more than SWK but I think both solutions are comparable. BTW. SPS uses an OEM version of SWK's Map-o-doc to integrate with SAGE 100. Also SPS have a non-integrated method of EDI entry called Webforms. All the entry is done in the web (read: double entry). This is good for the client's that has a very small volume and are not interested in dropping 15k on the integrated solution.

Thanks to everyone for the valuable feedback. Currently, I am waiting for more information on the transaction volume.

SPS web forms can be used in conjunction with MAPADOC in that smaller customers can be nonintegrated.

We may just end up there. The Customer's division that needs EDI is not currently using SO, or PO. We were into that project last year but they got busy and dropped the ball. The want to try again this fall.

Although not needed now, this is a good discussion for future reference like the one on EBM posted last month. We have several customers using True Commerce. We worked with them because they were endorsed AND they had offerings for other products we represent. Once setup the function works well and we love Eva and the sales organization. The same can not be said for the delivery team which has been consistently frustrating to work with. We work with several other vendors on other packages and can say that our deliver experiences have been better. We are working with SPS for the first time now, so I will reserve my opinion. For CHEAP EDI we have used Friendly EDI FrEDI out of Florida with success. DiCentral has also been good to work with and is very similar to SPS in model. We have not tried SWK since many moons ago when the data collection process on the sales side was a nightmare. I would assume that process has been streamlined and really like the idea of fully integrated as opposed to the VERY OLD technology of TC. Other than that I have no opinion.

I have a client using B2B Visions out of New York for EDI and they absolutely love it. I (personally) have not been thrilled with the lack of customer service from SWK since the Hightower merge/takeover. I had never heard of B2B Visions until this client. My client uses their ShipLink and the EDI product. Both products appear to be very stable, and the customer service is top rate (speaking first hand). I have used True Commerce and Map-a-Doc as well. Even used custom software from Faye Business Systems Group. It worked famously for one auto industry client I had.

Adding on to John's inquiry... Anyone know anything about SPS in Minneapolis? We too are looking at an EDI provider for one of our customers. Talked with True Commerce yesterday. SPS today.

@JohnWilder I have two customers using SPS. Both customers are happy with SPS so far. The implementation took much longer than promised. The issue was less than cooperative trading partners. They made it sound much simpler than it actually was on the front end (as you'd expect them to).

@KathleenMatthews I think B2B has a great product. Ryan seems to be pretty good at holding a grudge. I've also heard stories about billing issues and parameters of when ""the clock is running"". Just make sure you know when you're on the clock. You're right about SWK having customer service quality issues since the HighTower takeover.

I have had a change of heart about True Commerce EDI. They completely rewrote their interface with MAS and it looks great. They also have a webform entry too for NON-MAS customers. If anyone is looking for EDI. I would DEFINITELY get a demo.

@JimWoodhead interesting.. I just saw a demo and thought it looked really good too from True Commerce.

SWK can be a little shady about all the costs and the time it takes. True commerce includes most of the services in the price so there usually aren't any surprises. (at least they say.. albeit I haven't installed the new solution yet) I will say that in this case it is nice to have SAGE backing it up.

From what I saw I have no doubts that TC will be taking over the market...

@JimWoodhead are they any better at handling complicated trading partners than they were a few years ago? That's really my only concern with them.

    Posted 03-12-2013 12:55
Any bad experiences in the past with TC probably should be put aside, because it's a new company, new management and improved/streamlined systems. Early on I had extremely bad experiences and vowed I would never use them again. We have now done 3 installations and working on another soon. Being endorsed by Sage does carry some weight also, and clients notice that.

I would think it is better without VI. They have a lot more control. The integration sounded very full featured.
