Anyone else running into this trying to download the 941?

Someone (probably several) people at Sage need to go. To force a customer to download a plugin plus an install manager for a 7 MB 941 update???? There's something very very seriously wrong.

I ran into this when I downloaded the TTU.

How is this not just gross incompetence? And Sage has pulled this stunt with their crappy downloads for the demo images as well which have never worked well for me (to which they replied ""oh well nobody else has a problem"". I believe there is a core of truly terrible employees who've somehow survived the constant re-organizations.

Have a customer who gets a message when it gets to 818KB of 1.16MB. Cannot Start Application. Application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue.

Wait - I don't see the 941 Update on the Portal. Is it on there and I just can't find it? Thanks for the file Wayne.

Thanks Wayne, but when I follow the link, I see the message that I should check back for the 2013 update.

And remember this is another of those updates which will require you to grab the .rpt forms in the ### and XXX report folders prior to install. Be sure to read the bottom part of the pdf posted above.

I get the prompt to run the download manger, click run and then get a Cannot State Application window. Thanks for posting the download here.

@MyronStevenson - I have user receiving that message as well. We changed some firewall settings and that seemed to resolve that message. Then tried launching the download manager directly..

Tried to download on a Windows 8 computer - even Wayne's link - no go. Moved to a Windows 7 machine, downloaded and installed Microsoft .Net Framework, then the SAGE download manager and finally the file. Is there any technical reason why SAGE would put the customer through all of this download maze?

    Job security for resellers???

This isn't job security - it is the outsourced warranty/customer service department.

Yeah, this is the ""why do I have to pay X to fix Y's screwups?"" that builds resentment against both X and Y.

And look at this experience and tell me that Sage will ever be able to implement ""seamless"" upgrades... The only hope that Sage has is that they convince the partners to become the ""seamless"" part and to build in the upgrades to the support plans offered by partners.

It doesn't matter how many ""Customer Experience Officers"" they parade before the cameras, the one in charge is the ""Shareholder Experience Officer"", and the rest of us (customers and ""partners"" alike) are just peasants to be herded and taxed.

Just got off of the phone with the Portal support people and they told me they were replacing the download manager on the 941 updates etc with a direct download link.

I use Google Chrome so I didn't have the problem once I installed the plug-in. I'm having a MUCH different problem. After installing the 941 update, the alignment is WAY off! Has anyone seen this? Does anyone have any idea as to how to fix it?

@ThereseLogeais , that link goes to an error page.

Ah sorry. It's in another group. The answer is yes, there are others experiencing the same issue. Not across the board but enough that it's a problem. No answers yet, however.

Thanks, @ThereseLogeais . Please let me know if/when there's an answer.

    Will do!

    Posted 03-28-2013 07:18
I usually download all update files for myself and then either put them in my SugarSync account or send them via YouSendIt to make it easier to access via client. My Win8 has IE10(not supported on portal) so had to use Chrome.

    Posted 03-28-2013 08:43
@ThereseLogeais - At least for now, a good work around on the misaligned 941 forms is to ""Preview"" the form, save it to PDF and then print the PDF. When doing this, I had selected the printer to be the Sage PDF Printer. The form prints correctly from the PDF file.

  • 36.  RE: Anyone else running into this trying to download t

    Posted 03-28-2013 08:49
Before you changed the printer, did your preview look good? Others say it wasn't. Good to know it may be printer related! Thanks @ChuckPeddy !

    Posted 03-28-2013 08:53
Since I'm on a ""dial-in"" the Sage PDF Printer is my default. The only other ""printer"" I have at my disposal is the Microsoft XPS Doc Writer and the preview looks fine with that one also.

Here's the fix @ChuckPeddy thanks to @BrettZimmerman : The fix for this lies in the Windows 7 display settings. Change them to SMALLER (Default) and the form will work: Right click desktop Select personalize Click on display in lower left Select Smaller 100% (default) Click apply Restart the computer
