Anyone come across scenario where a user get's ""MAS 90 license limit exceeded"" when starting a task WHILE ALREADY IN MAS 90? MAS 90 4.3 on 2011 SBS, 5 user license, all 5 users can get in, but 5th user gets the error when launching a task. I'm aware that 2011 SBS is not supported, but client decided to have their IT guy move it anyway.

@WayneSchulz I thought so too, but could not find thread in search.

Mark, I have the same situation but server is 2003. Users are on W7 except for 1 on XP. This all started when first user was moved to W7. Last XP box won't be moved for awhile as it's not time yet for a migration. Users get error when trying to access tasks, especially in AP. They click ok and wait a minute and try again and it lets them in. I've tried all resolutions with no success. Planning to upgrad them to 4.50 in next month but don't really expect this to resolve the situation. They also have a 5 user license.

Install the v4.5 keys. This will give them an extra user which should mitigate the issue.

When all else fails on these odd messages - looks to user rights. I've had several where the IT department swears there's no rights problems. Usually this happen with larger companies with multi-tiered rights and groups.

An additional workaround = fire some users ;-)

Jeff - this only works till they get a 6th person correct? Just want to make sure i'm understanding this correctly.

@JeffSchwenk Client off maintenance, so not an option (although good thought). @WayneSchulz I don't think it's rights, as same user not having problems when 5 people not on MAS 90. @BrettZimmerman Thanks for the link. I'll have to follow-up on anti-virus, client OS's and details of the KB entry (from original thread).

Not sure. But if the limit is being exceeded with five, then a sixth license would be worth a shot. Again, doesn't solve the problem especially if they try the six license.

I had this issue check out: 110-1758 - Error ""1 user limit exceeded, No valid activation found"", when opening any task within Sage MAS 90 or Sage MAS 200 It discusses Power Settings - also per John Broadfoot I have seen this before and it was network related. Check out Old KB ID 1758. It came up fine on atlas.

@KennethPhillips Thanks. Not sure if it matters, but my issue is really a ""5 user limit exceeded. Contact your dealer for an upgrade. No valid activation found!!

What worked for my client - delete registration info. Click activate and get error. Reactivate after entering keys, etc. Made no sense to me either but it worked for this guy.

Mark, did you get this resolved? Any specific solution work?

Not resolved, but found a workaround. While on-site, I noticed their IT guy moved MAS 90 to different server. He edited the shortcut to point to new location, but didn't reinstall WK Setup... so Windows Registry was still pointing to previous path, which no longer existed. I removed previous WKsetup and installed again, but that didn't resolve issue. While testing further, I noticed that the error only appears when printing a register from Lines tab of data entry screen (AP or AR Invoice Data Entry). Specifically, the curser must still be on row 1 when print button is selected. No error occurs when printing from row 2 or any other tab of data entry screen! They're on 4.3.0.18, so it may be a bug in that release (didn't confirm yet). Initially, they couldn't get more than 2 users on without the error, even though they have 5 user license, Disabling Op locks via registry edit got everyone on, but didn't clear the error during AP/AR updates.

I had a similar issue on Server 2008. I had the IT dept turn off Opportunistic locking on the server and that resolved it for them.

@MarkKotyla, any chance the IT guy also didn't re-install the MAS 90 Programs, Product Updates, etc to get MAS registered on the new server?

@JohnBroadfoot I'm sure he didn't. I was on-site for a few hours, noted what was done incorrectly, patched them so they can resume working and will e-mail the president my findings (along with a recommendation). This is a basic DIY migration by someone who doesn't know MAS 90 or even care to ask for assistance. If management doesn't see a problem with this approach, so be it.

Just a FWIW. Your mention of the term Migration reminded me of something that has been useful to me in serveral cases. MAS is able to migrate from installs that are on the same version as the destination. I was not aware of this when having pain during an upgrade and move that involved network storage devices. A Sage Tech confirmed that it works fine. I tend to use this approach now instead of the old published Move and Reinstall method.

While I agree that a re-install is unwarranted, simply copying client side shortcuts like it's the DOS days is wishful thinking.
