Any recommendations on a website or service where

Any recommendations on a website or service where we can upload some year end documents and only make them available to clients on a support plan? Clients would need a password to access the site or the individual documents.

Is this just to review? Are they able to comment or ask questions? You could always use DropBox and then just email a link to those customers on plan. That's probably the easiest. A very low percent of customers want to login to anything. You could even create a Google Doc (or probably some type of Microsoft) and email that and have your DropBox links on the document. Is it completely secure? Nope. But you're not emailing the nuclear launch keys -- and it's very unlikely one customer would share with another. You'd always be able to change the links if needed, etc.

The reason I like a Google Doc is you can keep adding/modifying it whereas if you just email a bunch of links you have to keep emailing with any updates as the year end progresses.

If you use Office 365, you could create a sub-site in sharepoint and invite your customer to participate in the site. Then you could create a shared datapoint. The client would then be able to use Office365 to edit the documents in realtime on the site.

Another alternative is Smartsheet. You can create a worksheet with tasks and then attach documents to each task. Smartsheet charges by the open worksheet and there is no limit on how many people you share the sheet with.

Like @WayneSchulz, we also use dropbox to transfer files to customers. We don't use this for transferring sensitive data however as I don't know if that data is saved somewhere in Dropbox's achieves after we delete the file from the site.

This is a great discussion for MOTM in Feb . Steve, are you going to make it. I know Shawn and Wayne are?

Another tip - as you know quite a bit of Sage info is locked behind pay walls. You can use Evernote and the Evernote Chrome Clipper to copy that information into Evernote and then share it with customers. Always be sure to test the links on a non-logged in computer first. Also - obviously there are issues of sharing Sage information where a customer should have a login to view it. Make sure you are only sharing with customers on plan and entitled to the benefit.

Hey Jim. Unfortunately I can't make the MOTM in Feb due to one of our key employees getting married that weekend. Really want to go but will have to wait until next time.

One of the tools we use is ProjectSend (http://www.projectsend.org/) for this type of stuff. I have it on a unix server in my office. The software is opensource and free. I can setup documents for all users and let each user upload files as well. I wanted something that was able to have as much disk space as I needed without really increasing any cost. I also wanted it local so when I get their stuff uploaded to me, I didn't have to wait for a 13 GB file to download to me. I also wanted it to be really easy to upload that didn't require the user to create an account with another service. This also allows me to see how many times something was downloaded and by who. I also use a component for Joomla (our website software) that allows for downloads of files/programs. But it requires Joomla. It doesn't allow for upload. Only download for those users who have permissions.
