Any one sit in on yesterday's rebranding session?

Any one sit in on yesterday's rebranding session? Looks like they going back to the future and calling 90 and 200 Sage 100. How are they going to differentiate the two now - Sage 100 and Sage 100 CS? Thoughts???

I believe that 90 is going to be 100 Standard and 200 is going to be 100 Advanced. I think it will be very confusing to end users as well a prospects.

They also didn't specify what the SQL version would be called.

I think the 90/200 distinction is already confusing. I can't tell you the number of times I've had customers/prospects ask, ""What's the difference between the two?"" My response is something like, ""The programs function the same but MAS 200 is a thin-client version which means..."" and then I lose them (obviously, there are better answers!).

Interesting - After spending all of that money I certainly hope that they/we get our money back at some point. Looking at the list of new product names, I don't quite get the ""clarity"" that Sage is hoping to achieve. Time will tell. Now back to hitting the certification books..............

I usually just say that 200 processes transactions faster if you have a large number of users. If they ask a follow up question, then I will elaborate on the deeper meaning of life..............

Through the whole presentation yesterday I kept hearing Douglas Adams: 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy defines the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation as ""a bunch of mindless jerks who'll be the first against the wall when the revolution comes,"" with a footnote to the effect that the editors would welcome applications from anyone interested in taking over the post of robotics correspondent. Curiously enough, an edition of the Encyclopaedia Galactica that had the good fortune to fall through a time warp from a thousand years in the future defined the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation as ""a bunch of mindless jerks who were the first against the wall when the revolution came.""'

@JeffSchwenk, how's that certification work going - or are you pondering the deeper meaning of life? ;)

Doug Deane, CEO of San Diego-based DSD Business Systems noted, ""Although, I am a bit anxious about the name change, we are going to trust that Sage's brand strategists have a good handle on what they are doing."" I think this is probably the best summary of the branding efforts.

Certainly hope they aren't paying an outside consultant for this stellar advice.

Plans are to make it something like Sage ERP 100 Standard (90), Sage ERP 100 Advanced (200) and Sage ERP 100 Premium (SQL)

Since when. Is premium better than advanced? Sounds like. A gas pump

Even worse is that all you get with Premium is SQL, and you are paying extra for what the rest of the industry would consider Standard. And, even though it costs more, there are less modules available with Premium (no WO, JC, MRP, PR), not to mention many of the 3rd parties.
