If the user is on Windows 10 - Quick Assist is a built-in Microsoft tool whose greatest strength is that it's usually installed with Windows.
The downside is that it doesn't seem to fully support file transfer though nearly 100% of my remote servers are now RDP with some type of VPN so I use GotoAssist much less regularly and primarily for support requests to attended desktops.
Quick Assist is great for those medical or financial practices where the desktops are very tightly locked down. I'm sure that I'll start running into companies that don't allow Quick Assist to be installed but for now it has been a great help. Free with the only caveat that I believe you need Windows 10.
I am also working to setup a remote desktop using Windows 365 Cloud PC which contains all my VPN connections as I find it a pain to worry about my laptop crashing and then having to reinstall VPN after VPN because it seems no two customers use the same VPN client.
I use Google Drive to sync a folder with all the VPN login info which is a start but I think I want to take the VPN setup off a local desktop and have it virtual so replacing a laptop isn't a three week configuration nightmare ( of installing VPN and RDP setups used for remote customer servers).
I'd be interested to see how large firms manage this VPN headache

I was thinking this yesterday @Wayne Schulz, what "backup" or "alternative" do people utilize?
