    Another 4.05 issue at one of my clients....everytime they add a particular item to a Sales Order, the order is locks up or when you go to Inventory Inquiry on the item, the SO does not appear in the open SOs on the item. Any ideas?

    Rebuild IM1 - can they add the item to a purchase order? Inventory transaction?

    Try creating a new order and adding that item. If it works, it's not the item. I'd also create a new SO, copied from the original... then add the item. Have you eyeballed the SO via DFDM?

    No, don't think IM1 has been rebuilt. I'll give it a go tonight and see what happens. Will make a backup before though...it's been a long time since it's been rebuilt. I have created new SOs and tried to add the item - it's locked twice, appeared on the SO but not IM Inquiry three times. Have looked at both IM1 and SO1/SO2 a couple of times for any indication is problems, to no avail.

    Hi Everyone, I'm baaack. So rebuilding IM1, SO1, relinking line files SO2, and nothing. I have created a number of SOs and tried to add the item and every time it locks up. I am completely baffled. Don't want to delete the item as there's transaction history, but I'm about to suggest it. Any other ideas?

    Is this the same v4.05 client that you are having the POP issues with?

    No, two different clients...this one uses std mfg software.

    We are working on it Jeff, but still have this issue. Any ideas? I'm baffled...though my last ditch effort is to have shutdown the server to see if that will help. Thought the item could be caught in a loop somewhere.

    Does the item have an extended description?

    Yes @BethBowers almost all of their items have extended descriptions. I rebuilt the extended description file in IM as well because it doesn't display the ext description when the item is selected - actually doesn't display anything, just locks up.

    Well, actually, it does show that there's an extended description (*EXT), but nothing appears in the description field or any other field on the line.

    I had this happen with 4.10, not 4.05. The first time my upgrade attempted to use anything with an Ext Desc, it locked up. It wasn't actually locked up, it was furiously running something in the background, but it APPEARED to be locked up. We caused it to happen and let it run over night and never had the issue again. It just had to get something out of it's system...

    So do you think restarting the server might work? I can't for the life of me figure out what's causing it to hold up.

    In v4.05, there weren't any changes to the IM structure. I don't think the CI concept of ED's appeared until v4.1.

    See, that's what I was wondering about - the fact that those changes weren't made until 4.10. And yes, @ThereseLogeais - that was the fix, which came long after I had upgraded my client and spent hours staring at the screen, willing it to finish up whatever the hell it was doing. That was also the upgrade where I learned that reconverting a company meant wiping out the Reports folder stored in the company folder. Small wonder those folks didn't want to upgrade again until just this past spring.
