An FYI, I am adding the new names into the * General Discusss ChitChat group first. Once they appear there, we will add them to the other four groups. My piont is that if you see welcome announces in the * General Discussion that should be the first and welcome them. They other welcomes can be ignored.

Did you do this before or after Ron?

I think that works best. Wait for people to show up in general then bring them into other groups.

As I look over the External Facing groups @JimWoodhead I find a MATERIAL number of invites that have not been accepted. If we cannot get our good qualified 90 Minds members into these groups this whole Socialcast is a fail. This is a VERY serious problem if we have to continue to devote this much administrative time to basically maintaining a group that should be zero maintenance to add people to. Can you update us on what Socialcast has to say on this (if anything) -- I'm not holding my breath that SC has any type of solution and quite frankly I'm a lot disappointed in SC -- but not surprised.

I agree. SocialCast will either fix it or refund us. Guaranteed.

Looks like SociaCast fixed the welcome message issue. I added 3 people to the * groups and NO welcome messages. Although I have heard no response from Socialcast whether they did or not. I guess that is one of the things about SAAS. Fixes are global.

We still have 10 people who have not accepted invitations in the *Business of Consulting. I started watching that group just to see how ""unstuck"" it might become if I invited people again. I think some people did receive the invites again. I don't know the new members enough to know if some are just secondary people that a new OASIS person added in ""thinking"" they'd get use of the service of if in fact we have an invitation problem. I personally think that offering up invitations that have to be accepted only by email is just silly. The administration is a nightmare if you are trying to group in more than the local Boy Scouts den... Socialcast should really have recognized this during testing. Their response that most people link to some sort of directory sync might fly for the regular full Socialcast but not for when you are bringing in external collaborators who by definition are not in your company usually. I continue to expect Socialcast to vaporize into the folds of VMWARE and the Youngs to fly away within a year on their golden parachutes. The writing is really on the wall.

Socialcast could also make groups be joinable via URL -- similar to how Facebook allows you to share a Group and the potential members can click to request to be added. I mean this isn't (doing groupware) even my primary business and I feel like I know more about it than the Socialcast people - at least from a usability/practicality purpose.

Oh and I've found the support really sucks too. They have one of those FAUX support pages at http://getsatisfaction.com/socialcast where they mostly feel your pain.
