Am trying to get a Sales Order HEADER UDF to flow into an Invoice DETAIL UDF - not happening. Doesn't appear to be anything I could be doing incorrectly - you specify where the source is, and I did, and it's not bringing it over. Anyone else run into this?

It sounds like you're missing the WRK file step in between the S/O file and the invoice file. You have to create the UDF in the WRK file. Then, you'll need to update the invoice file from the WRK file UDF you created. I'll mess around with it for a moment......

Isn't that for printing only? I want to actually have it in the file.

I was incorrect. My apologies. The WRK file is for printing but you can use it to transfer to the history. What you can't do, is use it to move into the invoice file as I suggested above. I tested it for a moment and couldn't get it to work.

Played with it some more and it won't work for me. Best I could come up with is map UDF from S/O header to S/O invoice header. In the help system, look up ""Map user-defined fields."" Useful info, regardless.

Follow the flow in the attached. Wrk tables are optional, but you have to go through several other stepping stones to get from Order Header to Invoice History.

I am not trying to go to Invoice History. I am trying to map a Sales Order HEADER UDF into an Invoice DETAIL UDF. Not even heading to history yet - need it in the data entry files.

You might be able to redirect from the Invoice Header to the Invoice Detail in these instructions - go to Help > Index and type Map. From the list choose ""Sales Order Entry Header UDFs to Invoice Header UDFs

Do you have it sourced like this?

Why on earth couldn't this mapping all be automated? Does anyone have a reasonable explanation why this shouldn't flow to every table that ti can? The decline of MAS90 IMO is when they stopped automating much of their upgrade process. When we were required to manually make changes to the forms and custom panels (which half the time would get wiped out - though lately much better). That was the beginning of the decline.

I tested this as well, and wasn't able to get it either, even taking into consideration all the suggestions above. What you could do, would be to flow the UDF from SO Header to SO Invoice Header, then use a script to copy the header UDF to a secondary lines UDF. Looks like a few people have attempted this in Sage City as well.

Alrighty then. I think we can all agree that even though it appears you can do this because the option is there, it is not working. Did anyone from Sage get in on the discussion in Sage City that you saw, @MichelleBennion? To me, that certainly has to be a bug, not WAD.

None that I saw, but I didn't dig too deep. There were a few posts. Most said, just make the script and seemed ok with it. In my brief experience with Sage, if the client is content with a work-around, so it Sage.

@WayneSchulz - I don't mind the automation. I just wish they would allow access to all the tables.....
