Am talking with various EDI folks. Received this worksheet from SWK which to me seems like the way we should be approaching our prospects who reach out to us for help whether it be an existing or new deal. Have some type of basic information we require to be completed so that we have an idea of budget and what they're looking for --- BEFORE they can pull us into a lengthy and often never-ending phone conference. As you might be able to tell my pet peeve is being milked for free support by people claiming to be in the market for services who I secretly suspect have figured out that posing as a bona fide customer often can get them some free support answers and/or second opinions. This is just an FYI - I think it's a nice example of pre-qualifying.

Great form and very thorough. I wonder how this differs from having a form to grab info before allowing people to access or browse content though? Those types of forms are generally taboo but this is considered pre-qualifying. I've had a long day - can someone help me understand the difference?

Browsing content is self serve. Requires no professional time commitment of the partner. Me calling you on the phone is going to potentially tie you up for 30 minutes or more and if I am good I will get you to provide some free answers. While you're on the phone with me you can't be doing anything else. This presupposes you take more than just a stray call a month - which I am sure SWK is doing. I've seen all sorts of people treat web inquiries as their constitutional right to free consulting/support. This form makes the process more effective for you since you have all the details first should you decide to pursue. Heck it's shocking how many probably cannot even complete the form.
