Am I the only one thinking that there are now two

Am I the only one thinking that there are now two supported versions schedules? 1. If you have payroll, you essentially have to be on 2018 / payroll 2.x ( See [this](https://support.na.sage.com/selfservice/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=91050&sliceId=1&noCount=true&isLoadPublishedVer=&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_Article&stateId=34823&cmd=displayKC&dialogID=1397217&ViewedDocsListHelper=com.kanisa.apps.common.BaseViewedDocsListHelperImpl&openedFromSearchResults=true) ) 2. If you are NOT using payroll, then the Sage supported versions KB applies. So customers need to be aware that if they are on payroll they are essentially on an N support program versus what has traditionally been N-1 for product updates

(Ugh, just realizing we have to upgrade our own payroll soon, now!) Other than the fact that the legacy tax tables don't do tax types like the Oregon transit one, I feel like I'm reading that regular tax tables will continue til 12/2019 for legacy payroll customers on 2017. No?

My understanding is the same. Provided you don't need a program logic patch to perform a calculation then they should be good. It looks like IRD is issued on the same expiration date as tax tables. However, if your state has a tax similar to Oregon then I guess all bets are off. I would not undertake a customer PR upgrade later than October of this year in anticipation of support becoming extra overloaded.

But then, in the past, the TTU's were pretty version agnostic, right? I mean, has anyone stuck a 2018 3Q TTU in a 2015 system to see if it installs?

2018 uses the off-site TTU vs the 2017 and earlier which load from TTU. The tables may install to older versions but I think there's likely some program logic in 2018 that takes advantage of a 2018 specific TTU vs earlier releases.

I meant to say, has anyone stuck an unsupported, made for 2016 and 2017 table, such as TTU 3Q 2018, into a 2015 system and found that it still works? I have one 2015 customer I may just test it on.

If I recall correctly the TTU did load to earlier versions but the IRD checked versions. It's been a while since I recall this coming up so it may have changed.

    TTU updates per release schedule (haven't test on early versions) Sage v 2017 - June 2018 5.40.5.0, TTU 2018Q3(e) Sage v 2016 - June 2018 al TTU 2018Q3(e) Sage v 2015 - Feb. 26 2018 was last TTU and Dec. 14, 2107 was the last Year End update (5.20.5)

@WayneSchulz Yes, I still install TTU on 3.71 versions. IRDs and the like check versions.

@RhondaMcNamara TTUs are just 4 .SOA files which can be copied into any 2017 and prior system. No installation is really necessary other than to update Installed Modules.

Big issue might be obtaining Sage support during the busy December to January timetable that 98% of customers will defer their payroll upgrade into.

PS. Old Tax Tables can be manually edited from Annual schedules. We're not touching Payroll until 2019 and there is complete documentation and answers to the myriad of unanswered questions.

I'm with @BobPfahnl - unless absolutely needed I am holding on all payroll upgrades until 2019.
