Am I missing something - Sage 100 Advanced v2016.4 - I have traditionally told users that to net an open invoice against an open credit (which was not previously applied against an invoice ) you go into AR and do a zero dollar cash receipt.
This does work and applies one against the other.
However, the traceability of this appears to only be through the use of the PAYMENT REF: field. (usually the check # in cash receipts). There does not appear to be any grouping on a customer statement that shows the invoice followed by the credit memo which was applied:
Invoice #
Credit Memo
Instead, the user has to be diligent about using the check # / Payment ref field to explain where a credit was applied against.
Have I missed something somewhere in the setup that would show the credit against the invoice on a statement or perhaps I've overlooked a best practice in how to manage these after-the-fact matchings of open invoice against open credit?
Previously my customers have all been **very** infrequent users of this method and virtually none sent statements so it never became an issue.
However, this customer does a lot of credit memos and a lot of matching of stray credits to open invoice and sends statements. This is going a reconciliation problem that I hope to avoid by learning that I've set something up wrong.
