Am I missing something glaringly obvious, is there

Am I missing something glaringly obvious, is there a way to tell what is in production in BOM? Client is looking to find a way to have full visibility in Item Maintenance. They do not own Work Order, but I am hoping for something similar to the ""Req for WO"" field; but I don't even see a report. Is the register the only method? Any third party solutions?

Do you mean what is in production entry? Seems like that is such a short term data entry that there may not be anything that reports on it short of Crystal.

There is nothing in BM to show you that but @JohnnyPabian may have something?

They are trying to use BM as if it were WO and that is not how it is meant to be used. BM is an AFTER the fact production entry while WO is meant to show what WILL be or is in the process of bring produced, along with required components, etc.

I thought @JohnnyPabian was working with a MD to give BOM this visibility. Johnny???

Right, Thanks everyone! @ThereseLogeais they use the pick sheets to create the demand, then complete the production entry after the fact as they are supposed to. They work in chemicals and can often go weeks with something in production as it ""settles"". I really don't want to suggest implementation of WO just for this so I am hoping for a work around. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Do they leave the production in Production Entry? If so, you could do a report showing quantities 'committed' so to speak. As Jeff said, @JohnnyPabian was working on something to make BM more like a light WO. I'm sure he'll reply at some point....

Yes - there is a new solution called SBOM - schedule BOM - It does just that - it works ""like"" sales order entry - (you see visibility) then you go and invoice the sales order at a later date. This is a step before production entry - where you enter what they need to make - this hits the Item Inquiry screens to show supply and demand for these entries. Also works for SQL. See if this link goes through on a webinar that was done and best shows the functionality and future pieces coming soon. http://www.acsg.com/Downloads/Webinars/2015-09-24_MABM.mp4 And this is way simpler than work order!!!

Thanks @JohnnyPabian, that looks like just what they need. Can I send that link to my client for review?

@MichelleNichols No problem sending link - it is public to everyone at this point. They are still taking input on improving it, so if the customer sees something that might help them please suggest(if makes sense it might can get in there). Right now it is getting tweaked to be multi-bin compatible right now.

Not to mention it is in Business Framework which opens up other capabilities compared to Work Order.
