Anyone know of an alternative to Knowledgesync?  Customer is asking ... I'm happy with KS/Alerts but they are price shopping.  :(

If they need more than what Visual Cut does, do look at the Codeless platform, from Fisher Technologies. Nicole Laurier, nicole@fisher-technology.com

I think the answer to this depends on what they're using Knowledgesync to do. I've had customers in the past that use it as nothing more than a Crystal Report scheduler and for those customers using Visual Cut has been more than enough.

I've had other customers who have years of different Knowledgesync tasks - especially if they were doing frequent monitoring for data changes - where it didn't seem worthwhile to re-implement into a different system.

If you do use with Visual Cut I've found it is much if you throw the Visual Cut PDF manual into your favorite AI system and then ask questions of AI. I've had the AI write me batch files both for VC itself as well as batch files where where the customer wanted to manipulate the data which we were exporting from VC and use FTP of some sort to upload the data.  If you don't like batch files the AI will rewrite in just about any common programming language needed.

I personally am not a fan of KS. I feel it's too expensive and the support behind it, based on feedback here, seems slow. It's more complex than VC to setup and the UI is something that was nice and shiny in the 1990s but , IMO, shows its age today ( not that the VC UI is much prettier )..

+1 for Visual Cut.  (If you need advanced functions, like monitoring for new/changed records, the new ActionQ program adds such functionality... with the ability to call a Visual Cut report based on the query results).

IMO, KS is overly complex for what it does.

I agree that Knowledge Sync / Sage Alerts and Workflow is overkill and too expensive if you are just wanting to schedule reports. We use Visual Cut more often than KS/SAW.

For those that actually do need monitor functionality, New clients use the new UI. we do have some clients still use the old version of Knowledge Sync and we have upgraded a few to the new version.. The new UI looks web-based and much easier and more intuitive. There is a learning curve, but the UI is no longer 1990's based.

Upgrading has gone well, but we engage with SAW Support: I have had good experiences with that.
