Also re: PU3 (as well as v2015), does anyone know what this is all about, which I noticed near the top of the PU3 Release Notes doc, and then also in the Sage kb?: An update to the Sage Exchange Desktop (SED 2.0) is available from our web site (http://na.sage.com/log-on/) after registering for and logging into the Sage Customer or Partner Portal. Download and install the Sage 100 SED 2.0 Update (AR5005T KBID 75641) on the Sage 100 2016 Server. At each Sage 100 Workstation that processes Credit Card transactions, run the Sage Exchange Desktop 2.0.exe (requires Administrator privileges). So far as I can tell Sage stopped autoloading Sage Exchange Desktop to each workstation and now requires that you manually load it for anyone who will process SPS transactions. Yet another manual step to forget to install.

I'm on the fence as to whether this is a good change. We've had many issues with user permissions and IE running in secure mode blocking the download, having it installed purposefully gets rid of that.

I think it's a bad change because now the simple act of a workstation setup can become almost a project in itself. If you have the old workstation you uninstall, reboot, wait, reinstall, forget to reinstall that ""hidden"" second workstation setup, now you have to figure out if the Sage Exchange desktop is needed, is e-Filing needed? Now I'm spending an hour at each workstation just doing busy work that frankly Sage should be coding for.

We typically write up instructions and have the user's IT handle workstation installs on individual machines (while we'd do the work on a terminal server, if provided Admin access).

Nice when the user HAS ""IT"" who isn't the owner or his teen-aged son...
