    Almost never a good sign to be logged into a client server, then notice the screen freeze followed by a phone call asking ""did you just reboot our accounting server""? They almost never believe that you weren't the cause.

    You're right, not a good sign when the server freezes as you are connected to it. Even though you're fairly certain it wasn't due to anything you were doing, I ALWAYS second-guess myself. ""OMG, what was I doing that would cause that???

    I always go on the assumption that the client's belief is that the last person who touched it -- owns the problem... which is why I try to be careful to avoid any scope creep (aka - you're walking by someone's computer and try to solve an issue that is not part of your project -- and 5 hours later you stand up defeated )...

    You are so right on the money. I'm glad I don't work on networks any more. Just walking by the file server, you felt like you could be accused of a crime.
