Customer is on Sage100 Advanced 2024. They are looking to buy an Alerts program of sorts. I know of SAW and VisualCut/ActionQ but not much about either. I have not used them. Are there others out there? If not which of the two is recommended? The alerts they want are mostly simple ones; like Customer Credit Limit changes, Inventory out of stock, new customer added and the like. Email notifications is all they need. In other words, nothing complicated

For simple reports, Visual Cut is by far the more cost effective / easier to use solution.

For a "change" report (like your credit limit change report), you need to add ActionQ... which works well, but takes a bit more effort to configure (compared with Visual Cut).

I believe Ido Millet was offering a demo copy to 90-Minds consultants... if you want to try it out yourself.

IMO, SAW is expensive bloatware... but it does work.  I'm not sure what things are like now, but it used to be that you could not even call support for help with any kind of issue until you went through the KS training / certification.

Thanks Kevin. Quick question. Do you need SQL server or anything else to VC/ActionQ or does it have everything it needs to connect to Sage100 (pvx)?

Visual Cut is mainly just a Crystal Report + silent DSN... and email server settings.

For ActionQ mirror type events, you need a location to store your mirror table data, and SQL Express is fine for that.  (There may be other options).

Visual Cut all the way. Download the PDF manual for VC and throw it in ChatGPT which will then help you with the command line structure and some debugging.

I think Alnoor had a script he demoed that would email a notice for changes in credit limits. That might be another way to go since of the two items you list the one that might be needed the most in real time could be the credit limit change.

I've had clients that I acquired who had Sage Alerts and it seems like it is a great program except the UI is all bloated and there are different programs for different functions. I found it overly complex and difficult to find help ( at some point there was someone in the group that said they had lots of Sage Alerts experience). I don't believe Sage supports it directly ( and they definitely don't support Visual Cut directly ).  The Visual Cut UI is no beauty to behold either but it's significantly cheaper than Sage Alerts and does almost all the same things.
