Age old question..... again!!! How much data from the MOTM 2014 conference do we share with the attendees only vs. the 90Minds group as a whole vs. the outside world on the 90Minds website. If we post 100% to the outside world (or to the entire group), the value of the conference is diminished in that the lurkers just saved themselves $1-2K in expense by NOT attending. Why attend when I can have ALL the PowerPoint's and other handouts?? I am all for publishing ""teaser"" comments about how great the conference was for ALL to see, but I think we should draw the line regarding who can see the ""secret sauce"" of the conference. Big discussion on Thursday regarding differentiation of the two levels, this is a subset of that. What IS the value of the conference if you don't have to attend to benefit from the course presentations?? What is the most frequently heard reason for the S300 group failure to launch - the information is free elsewhere so why spend the money??? Should we make the MOTM section a private group open only to attendees as it was last year? Set up a new group every year?

I think information wants to be shared. I don't see the lurkers saving themselves anything by not attending. True ... the sessions are a lot stronger at MotM vs Sage Summit or other conferences but a lot of the magic (ie; value) is in the interactions with like-minded people. You don't get that by reading a powerpoint.

I side more with Peter though don't think we need to do anything special to address non-attendees (IOW - no direct email of ""here's the ppt you missed""). I would however like to be able to use slides and session summaries as valuable content for our web site. Using it on the web provides our presenters some added exposure they might find valuable and could more than compensate them for their presentation time.

Damn. Makes me wish I had actually made a powerpoint. Either way - I agree with Wayne. Repurpose, repurpose, repurpose. It creates - not substracts - value from the group to share this information.

I agree with Peter in that it's not so much the material (although good!) but the interactions. Most of the presenters have already shared their stuff anyway. I think the presenters know whether they want to share or not already. It is not a requirement that they do so. I had a discussion with Barbara about her upgrade checklist and she isn't sure she wants to share it for free. I told her it is her call.

Interesting. Barbara is not shy about asking for help. I guess it's not a two way street.

All about brand management and building awareness and about being part of something exclusive. How much is too much or not enough. Just a thought as we go forward.

Barbara told several folks she was willing to share at least part of it in the session when asked. I'm for sharing the slides and such. The real value is in the interaction with the other attendees.

I'm completely with Peter...OMG, did I just say that? :) It's more about the interactions than the content. We aren't sharing state secrets that aren't available elsewhere and is a reminder to those that didn't attend what they missed out on
