After spending some time this morning thinking about Sage's quest to implement ""push button upgrades"" for customers - my conclusion is no way Sage will ever get there. This is all exec-level whiteboard hope and a prayer. I do not see Sage as having the technical skills to tackle even something as simple as this. Reason: If Sage were able to do this - we'd already see them making progress with the workstation update. Plus with integrations and third party solutions touching the data - I feel comfortable that the best Sage will likely deliver is some type of dashboard (which they've already announced would be phase I). I don't think the Sage 100 push button upgrade will go much further than that.

I wouldn't say never on this one. Consider Accpac Online and Sage CRM Cloud and Saleslogix. They don't have millions of customers but they have enough that Sage is getting very good at making these upgrades happen with minimal person-hours and elbow grease. Not perfect yet of course. This is a great example of offering a product for a price and then working diligently to get your costs down to nothing so your profit margins rise.

@PeterWolf - don't those solutions you mentioned limit the customizing you can do? Plus no workstation upgrades. At the moment, the Sage 100 wksupdate program that comes with service packs can't even properly locate the existing workstation install it is supposed to upgrade. Add in that Sage has never bothered to create upgrade code for the data entry files, and while it might not be ""never"", it will be at least two more CEOs from now.

If I was feeling snarky, I could say that is only 36 months away, right? :)

That sounds more like hopeful than snarky (and I did say ""at least"").
