Accounts Receivable Sales Tax Report - End user pays sales taxes on a cash basis. There is a Sales Tax Collected field on the report. Is this number reliable? Can this number be tied out to some detail cash receipts?

I had a client with a problem with this number some time ago. If memory services it was off by any prepayments being applied to an invoice automatically when the invoice number matched. I know it was off and I diagnosed. I am guessing at my recollection of the cause.

Thanks Larry. This company makes cabinets and has a customer deposit / prepayment on nearly every invoice. Oh boy.

As the day moves on more detail comes to mind. My recall is the clients tax liability continued to grow on the GL. This is what we call a sign. I did a little research to determine the issue. At the end of the day they went with Avalara and we got our one time commission. Woopee.

@LeeGraham - didn't you do a cash basis sales tax mod for someone?

I think it was Premier Utilities - will check.
