Very strange...crystal reports was running perfectly...suddenly a specific report stays with the “accessing database” message at the time you run it...and it stays there. I have verified the database before running it, and everything looks fine... what else could I look into????

It is only happening in some reports...not all....that is why I have eliminated the DSN error...

Database - Show SQL Query... then copy / paste that into an ODBC query tool (like ODBCView) and see if it works there (to verify data problem vs report problem).

This could be a bunch of things - corrupted data, etc.

One cause I seem to run into most frequently is linking. This can be especially apparent with large data files when you are linking say an AR Invoice History Header or Detail.  Double-check your links and see if you are working with a large data table. Sometimes reordering the tables in the linking works for me. Other times I try using a left outer join if appropriate.

I understand your OP to indicate the reports worked fine before?

You have a bad key(s) in there.

    Rebuild Keys.

Lourdes, I am going to pull on your memory banks, but wondering if you ever resolved this?  I have the same issue occurring at a client.  I have rebuilt keys and sorts, did not help.  I have scanned the tables for bad records, nothing.  When I run the reports in from a test company (backup from about a year ago) reports run quickly.  In live company reports take hours to process.  Any suggestions welcome!

I do not remember the resolution on that case...but, it happened again a couple of weeks ago.  I added to the troubleshooting running the CHECKDATE utility to confirm no bad dates.  I ended up redoing the report and the error disappeared...maybe it was a bad link....

Thanks so much for the quick response Lourdes!  I appreciate it.  I have also tried rebuilding the report, but no luck there.
