ACA reporting. Are there any write-ups posted in the 90 Minds group on this subject? I spotted a couple of comments that some were under development a month or two ago, but nothing since. I'm starting my deep dive this week.

Be careful of diving into still waters. Doesn't necessarily mean the water is deep in this case....... Last I recall, @MaryJoKrueger has done a lot of work on this topic for her firm and perhaps @ShawnSlavin also. Other than that, I don't think there has been a lot posted. It would make for a good session topic at MOTM 2016.

Here's a little summary - if you have less that 50 full-time equivalent employees in all of your related companies (co-owned companies must be added together for this, and full-time equivalent is 30 hours or more) AND you are not self-insured, you do nothing. Otherwise, you have to start reporting this year, but only if you have more than 100 employees will you be subject to the non-compliance penalties. Next year that level drops to 50. Some insurance companies are offering to do the filing, as are some payroll processing companies. I have one client using ADP and he says they will do the reporting themselves because ADP is charging an obscene amount to do so.

Here's my advice ""I am not in the business of providing tax or accounting services. Please consult with your advisor as to the proper ACA reporting for your company

Then we support whatever advice the advisor gives.

At most, show them how the ACA module in Sage Payroll works and how to enter the data for it. Beyond that, What @WayneSchulz said.

We have spent a great deal of time trying to summarize the information and working with the Sage VI jobs. We're not giving out reporting advice but trying to help simplify the data entry process in Sage 100. We added a website page that has a summary document you may find useful. We found the Sage imports very confusing so we are in the process of finalizing a database program that will save hours of time getting the ACA data into Sage 100. We see an opportunity to work with clients and other 90 Minds members to really help clients fight through all of this extra work. So that I don't break any self promotion rules, e-mail me at steve@comstrategies.com and I will get you a copy of our document and a link to the website with all of the resources. I'm happy to share this with anyone interested, just need to know the best way to do it.

Thanks @SteveEngmann for offering to share. I'll send a request by separate email. While I understand why many/most of you differ to the clients' CPA, that would be like throwing my clients under the bus. I'm not going to interpret the law, just help them get this set up correctly in Sage.

@MaryJoKrueger can't wait to read it. Did you provide a link?

I did not because the only copy is on my laptop. Are you not able to save it from here?

If it's not too much trouble, email it to me at kscofield@stanet.com. Thanks!

I have to agree with @SteveEngmann. The VI templates and jobs are convoluted and nothing you could, in good conscience, turn over to an end user. I'll be curious to see what he's developed to assist in this data entry function.

We did our own imports, too. What @SteveEngmann and @KathrynScofield said... :-)

@SteveEngmann Definitely interested in seeing what you have put together. The Sage ACA Worksheet as many have stated are not very user friendly.
