Aatrix updates now have 2017 w-2's available for download. But this download also takes longer as it installs some MSFT updates to your system. On my laptop, the install took about 7 minutes. I was on site yesterday and the clients workstation took about 20 minutes for the same download. Be patient.

Sage City had a post on this a few weeks back - basically that the DL requires added components - https://sagecity.na.sage.com/support_communities/sage100_erp/f/sage-100-announcements-news-tips/105609/is-your-aatrix-tax-forms-update-not-completing-or-presenting-an-error

I'm helping a customer and I think the speed may vary. Their install hung at first for a while on this screen and also said ""not responding"" but I let it stay and it eventually kept going. This seems to be the same as what Jeff experienced. Just be patient if it hangs on this screen. The next screen that came up was the one with ""Microsoft Redistributables) and it had 5 separate updates to install.

First update for a customer - done in roughly 15 minutes.

This new release seems to have fixed the issue with the wizard forcing an account number for every state with payments reported in 1099's even though no filing is required.

Good, @alanniergarth , I ran into that issue on Monday morning. Looks like I need to update Aatrix again.

@alanniergarth I just got a call from a client who is trying to process 1099's and they are being prompted for State/Local tax Numbers for about 20 states... we have to do updates from the Aatrix website, as the autoupdate fails (and IT refuses to change anything. Is the attached message what you were seeing? I'm wondering if the manual download just hasn't been updated yet, or if I need to force IT to allow the updates via Sage.

I did a manual update today from the Aatrix website onto a WIN 10 workstation. No MSFT updates were required. I am wondering it no updates were required because it was a WIN 10 (updates yesterday were to WIN 7 and WIN 8. Were MSFT updates not installed because it was a manual upgrade. Thoughts?

@MichelleForsey the message you are seeing is the one I would get in the ABC company data for California before I updated to the new version of the forms. My update took several minutes longer than normal and also included 3 or 4 C++ updates to my windows 10 laptop. After the update I did not have to enter a value for CA to get to the next step of the wizard. I could click ""next"". Before doing the update I called support and was told the previous ""fix"" for that error was to backspace through the characters in the field and then it was supposed to let you get past it. I didn't need to try the fix because it did not force an entry after the update. Interested if this seems to work for others after updating to the new forms.

@MichelleForsey Keep us posted. Also I think you can download the patch that Sage 100 offers to auto-download. IIRC, there's a button that says download when you get the prompt to update. I'm curious too if the autoupdate is different somehow than what Aatrix has posted on their site? (Which, BTW, it is POOR practice to post update files with the same name year-after-year because there's no way to distinguish if you have the latest DL. I think Aatrix uses mas90.exe as the standard name).

BTW, I DL the Aatrix update to my 2016 Sage 100. It also shows up in 2013, 2014 versions on my office computer. Seems that this must go to a shared common folder - most likely - c:\program files (x86)\common files\sage\aatrix

I was able to go into my v2014 and v2013 and see the forms which leads me to believe that the Aatrix update will work for unsupported versions provided an IRD isn't required to manipulate the data on the way to Aatrix.

I created a few fake entries using the same State codes they had and received the same prompts on my system (after doing the auto-update) so the manual and auto update appear to be the same files @WayneSchulz. So this tells me Aatrix/Sage is actually looking for tax ID number for those states. But that doesn't make a lot of sense for 1099-MISC's does it? Since no tax is collected, and income is just being reported against the payees ssn or ein#?? I called Aatrix and they said it is a requirement passed through from the state, and that we should reach out to them directly. So does my client need to call 20 different states to get Tax ID numbers before the deadline? This seems like someone dropped the ball, and if that is indeed the case, I am going to have a lot of confused unhappy customers. for what's it's worth, these guys are an S-Corp. Does anyone have any additional info on this?

I've always entered the State Tax ID for 1099s in the space provided under Vendor Maintenance 1099s. I think you need to since the Fed will report back to that state their receipt of 1099 info. I'm sure one of the CPAs in the group can give you a better explanation.

I've uploaded my example with a blank Tax account number and it lets me do the next button. Try entering backspaces to make it a null value instead of populating with numbers. There may be some states that actually require this and the customer may not have been filing. Accountant would have to answer that.

Thanks @alanniergarth I will try to connect back up with the client and let you know. I have to get them passed the ""Why is this happening"" and ""This makes no sense, can't you fix it"" Phase of questioning first. I love when clients ask me why something is working the way it is. I resort back to the snarky statement: ""I don't know why. I have also tried to figure out why when I ring my doorbell my neighbors garage door doesn't open. I guess it's just the way it was programmed."" ;)
