  • 1.  A way to default all data entry to all uppercase?

I have a client who wants all data to be entered in Sage in all CAPS. They do not want to engage the shift or CapsLock keys because it disrupts their "flow" Has anyone done this? How?

There is a setting for cities to be in all caps, but that is it.  I would highly recommend not even trying to fulfill the request.  All uppercase in text is the equivalent of SCREAMING IN ANGER.  Whoever is asking apparently does not know this.
"No deliveries on Monday" and "NO DELIVERIES ON MONDAY" are interpreted with very different tone to the reader.

I agree this is a bad idea. But the client asked, so,  I thought i would dig a little before I told them "NO".

I submitted this request 10 or 15 years ago.  Please provide a check box in company maintenance to default all fields to upper case.  I thought it was a cool idea.  I mean if they could do it for cities, why not ALL fields.  Apparently, it was "too" hard to program.

They did suggest as a work around to use custom office to modify each field in every panel (desired) to default to upper case.  Took the time to change important fields.  It does work, but a laborious process.

I have thought about setting up a vanilla install, change all the panel to uppercase, then do a custom office export which could then be imported.  For many users, they are good with caps lock.

Many of us remember the "old days"...when hitting the F6 key capitalized, or un-capitalized whatever the text was in the field.  If George Rivere could do it, I'm not sure why it can't be done now!

Ah, George Rivere (or is it Rivera).  Very insightful.    Is it true that he once worked on a product that eventually became Quicken but he thought MAS 90 had a greater long term potential? Or that just a rumor.
