A question came up regarding the Auto Generate from Sales Orders functionality. When using the Quantity Required option in Base Order Quantity On, the standard calculation is: ordered quantity on the sales order minus quantity on hand and the quantity on purchase order. However, the customer is asking if the calculation could use ordered quantity minus quantity available (quantity on hand minus quantity on SO), instead of quantity on hand. The issue they are running into is that there could be multiple sales orders with the same inventory item. This causes Sage 100 to not generate a purchase order when it actually should generate one. This is for Sage 100 v2014 but it doesn't look like any of the Auto Generate functionality has been changed in subsequent versions. Am I overlooking something totally obvious?

Are you sure the Only QTY Required doesn't take multiple SO into account? The help file makes it look as if it would

When I tested, it did not.

I didn't test it but this is what the help shows, as if all quantities on order are considered less quantities on PO:

If it's still an issue, double check qty on sales order and purchase order are accurate - I've had customers report variances between qty on order IM and Open Orders by Item reports. Rebuild of sorts with Yes to recalc qty on order fixed it.

I think @JohnShaver could be correct. I think the example I posted above is only referring to which SO's are selected, not total quantity on SO. If they've already created PO's for other SO's, then John's situation could be correct, i.e. it does NOT include those SO's. Sorry John!

@MoiraGoggin I'll give the rebuild sorts a try but the numbers seem to be accurate. @ThereseLogeais Yes, that's exactly the situation. It does not take into account the other SO's. @NicoleRonchetti Does DSD have any enhancement that may take care of this for us?

The program does only take into account what sales orders are being selected at the time, so if you select one sales order, thats all it will look at. If you select all sales orders it should take all of them into consideration (I believe). We dont have a stock enhancement that will do what you are looking for but we've modified this program on many occasions with custom programming. If its custom programming and we just need to modify the logic on the calculation its theoretically a pretty easy mod. I think I would need to have a better understanding though of what they're process is for auto-generation. There's a lot of factors with that program. If you want to discuss in more detail feel free to email me direct.
