A friend is launching her public speaking business. Her anchor book is at the publisher, and she's now laying out her marketing. I suspect she'll be quite successful in the niche she's targeted. She asked me for advice on where to start for getting her marketing tools together. What I'm looking for is advice on the best tools she might start with for driving some email campaigns, both from her blog and for special events, such as book signings. She has extensive contacts which she categorizes well, so a simple contact manager needs to be tied into this, along with opt-in and -out. At one level, ACT!-Swiftpage makes sense because of the ACT! targeting, but SP appears to be not so swift when it comes to enabling an automatic generation of blog-based emails, or with opt-in management. I'm thinking Zoho-Aweber might be a start. Any observations? Thanks a bunch!

I can speak to the auto generated web blog --> email newsletter. I use Mailchimp and they have an RSS to Email tool which lets me set my newsletter to pull content via RSS on a schedule I determine (daily, weekly, etc). This doesn't solve her contact tracking issue but has been good for me for consistently generating an email newsletter.
