A customer is asking about the ramifications of unchecking the ""Require Lines To Be Fully Distributed"" option in SO entry. I believe this relates to lots. They are running into a problem where they recently made a change to their inventory so that most of their main items are not lot valuation. This is apparently causing a problem when they want to partial ship an item because from what I gather Sage won't let you put 15 lot items on an order and only allocate 10 to a lot and back order the remaining 5. They are questioning workarounds Once again its son of ""I'm sure everyone runs into this"". Anyone have similar experience? I have not yet thoroughly reviewed this since they threw this monkey on my back last night.

This is apparently the issue: So the problem in Sage is that when the order type is ""backorder"", when you go into the order in the lines tab it will prompt you to distribute a lot when you touch the line. The issue is when we do not have inventory to fulfill the item we cannot backorder it and cannot save the order without giving it a distribution.

So they're committing the lot in SO entry?

I have a few clients that need to ""commit"" lots in SO Entry, but NOT for every Lot tracked order, and not for every customer. Their setting in setups is to ""not"" require lines to be fully distributed. I don't believe this setting has caused them any grief.

The response to your first question is that yes they are committing the lot in SO entry. They have an integration to Accellos so there may be an issue with Accellos (not sure) if they don't fully commit. For some reason when I enable the fully distributed then enter an SO and distribute. Go back into SO options and remove the ""require lines to be fully distributed"" on a 2013 PU 5 system it does not seem to change anything and I am still prompted to either fully distribute or delete the line. Note: Trying to test whether they can turn this feature off with lot SO in data entry.

Looks like it is just confusing wording and the prompt will ask if you want to delete (with the require lines disabled) but you can no out of it and the line is saved.
