A customer forwarded an email that said the following. It had attachments. Have any of you ever heard of XPromos? From: Kelly O'Callahan [mailto:kellyo@xpromos.com] You recently participated in the Sage Countdown to Spring game, and you have been randomly selected to win the GRAND PRIZE: a $1000 Delta Airlines Travel voucher. Attached please find the final rules and an Affidavit of Eligibility for you to complete. We can send you the prize once you sign and return the attached Affidavit. Please confirm receipt. We must receive the signed affidavit within 5 business days, or you will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. Congratulations again, and thank you for supporting Sage. Regards, Kelly O'Callahan, Sweepstakes Administrator, on behalf of Sage

    Certainly sounds like Phishing.

I would not advocate for clicking on any attachments, however it seems that an X! Promos has been affiliated with Sage in the past. http://go.na.sage.com/ERP_BeTheDriverWebcastSeries_RULES

The referenced game was/is a promotion related to Sage Summit. Have her reach out the Sage Summit Registration Team at sagesummit.atlanta@wegone.com to confirm that it's legit, or Sage Events sage.event@sage.com.

FYI, that email appears to be legitimate. XPromos has been a marketing/promo vendor for Sage for several years. I spoke with a Yvette Brown who gave me the background. It seems that my customer had been clicking on a link for Summit and entering a contest. The customer didn't tell me that. Yvette a bit of an attitude. ""If you had gone to our website before telling the customer that the email was a phish..."" I had. I told her that anyone can put up a legitimate looking website and that I needed confirmation to protect my customer. She pointed out that the email did NOT have a link to click, but rather 2 attached PDFs, which are completely safe and have no risk of containing a virus. I chose to not argue the point. Thanks to all who answered me. I appreciate it!

Someone from Sage saying that PDF's have no risk of containing a virus. Why am I not surprised?
