A client of ours has had a semi-recurring (yet not able to replicate) problem with printers on their Citrix TS machines. Normally the first error is ""Print driver hosr for 32bit applications has stopped working"" followed by ""Unable to print SO_Invoice2.rpt"" or ""The handle is invalid."" I have bounced this around here in the past and I guess my question is, when printing through Paperless Office, does the system create an RPT image before creating the PDF? We have checked user rights and that doesn't seem to be the issue. Again, we can't make this happen on demand. It goes away for weeks and then pops back up. Usually the client can simple reboot the terminal and print.

What version of Sage 100? What version of Citrix? Some of the older versions of the Sage pdf driver don't work very well with Citrix.

This is that same client that I have been wrangling with for a while. It is Sage 100 2016 Advanced. They are running on an Amazon Cloud server. They have Linux boxes logged in via RDP to get a the Windows desktop.

That doesn't seem like it is Citrix. If a re-boot solves the issue, maybe there is a hung process (open file) that is causing the failure. A file is trying to be created but it cant because the same file is already open. Maybe look at the task manager and see what files are open when there isn't an issue. When the issue occurs compare the open files and see if there is a difference.

OK. This has taken an interesting twist that seems to be leading us down into print driver hell. Apparently this error is also printing: PCL XL error Subsystem: Kernel Error: IllegalTag Operator: 0xbf Position: 9 Also, I looked at the Application Log on the terminal server and found this error: - System - Provider [ Name] Application Error - EventID 1000 [ Qualifiers] 0 Level 2 Task 100 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2017-02-14T13:18:32.000000000Z EventRecordID 52584416 Channel Application Computer AMAZONA-G1KASJH -EventData splwow64.exe 6.1.7601.17777 4f35fbfe hpzuiwn7.dll 0.3.7071.0 4a5bdfcb c0000005 00000000000d6de7 3df0 01d286c47ee112c6 C:\Windows\splwow64.exe C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\hpzuiwn7.dll 14cf4008-f2b8-11e6-a953-da4018b07ce6 I know that it's a lot of technical junk but the error seems to sprout from the 64 bit print spooler crashing from the HP driver. I've seen suggestions online of rolling back from PCL6 (XL) to PCL5e. I've also seen blogs that suggest that the printer might not be shared correctly for a 64 bit system and another one suggests disabling advanced properties of the printer. I _**HATE**_ hardware problems!

My first thing to do when encountering printer issues is check for PCL6 drivers and replace with PCL5...and very rarely does that lead to a second step...
