941 Employee Count: According to the instructions on the 941, the count should be from the quarters payroll on the 12th of the month, such as June 12th for the 2nd quarter. The form pulled 201 ( I believe is the number of W2 in that quarter, since some employees did not have any pay), but the payroll on the 12th was 195. A client is very curious why the Aatrix number isn't pulling just the payroll that covers the 12th. Anyone have experience with this? Or know what the politically correct answer should be? Thanks!

Ummm, hey it's Sage? Good question. Would love to know how they figure it out. Does anyone really know what this statistic is used for at the Gov? What if the PR is a monthly PR but the employee only worked the 3rd week (NOT the 12th). I see a lot of wiggle room in this calculation. Maybe this is where the phrase ""Good enough for government work"" comes from.

As far back as I can remember, this has rarely been accurate. I have a query in excel set up to track my counts.

I believe it pulls active employees. It's easiest to take the count off of the check register for the period you're reporting on.
