I noticed that @Jeff Schwenk posted on a Sage forum (Edit from original post: This was a post from Big Louie not Jeff, Sorry Jeff) a note saying "If you are looking for people to do modifications and support then 90Minds.Com is a good place to start". I was thinking that this was a great response and a great way to get more out of being a 90minder. Which made we go look at 90minds.com, without logging in, and noticed that there is no way for someone to go to that site and try to find someone to help them with support or modifications (other than the contact us link to an email findamind@90minds.com).

So the question is, is it expected to have this site provide references to 90mind members within an area that end users may want to connect to? As it is, only members know who the members are or where they are located. You would have to look at each members website to see if they reference 90minds to know they are on it and even then they may or may not be current with membership.

Just trying to make sure I know what the expectations are for the 90minds website. I understand it is a member-only community but is the site used to help end users find members? or is it to help bring in more consultants/resellers/ISVs to the community? Or is it just a place to have our forum to communicate (like this post, BTW I really like the forum) Either way, website isn't telling anyone what its purpose is. You can see the limited blogs that members have posted, Events related to 90minds, our Tweets, terms and conditions, contact us (email link) and Help/FAQ.

Don't get me wrong. I am NOT complaining. Just trying to understand the expectations we, as a group, have of the website and if anything needs to be changed to make that expectation known.

I was going to ask the same question last week but didn't have time.
Perhaps a public directory is planned as a future update to the site?

@Todd Martin and @Kevin Moyes This is a great idea, and I'm sure there are more members who would like to see this other than we three. Anyone?

We really are working on improving the functionality of the website and the forum. I know all you have seen was me posting about we are working on it over the last year or so.

A member directory that is public facing is part of that work. We are working with a third party vendor to do some of these changes and it has taken much, much longer than expected to get the first round of improvements done.

Responsibility for this overall project falls on me so feel free to ask any of these questions directly or in the forum.

We do get inquiries from the website periodically. Most of these are SPAM or requests for free help but we try to connect the legit inquiries with a member firm in their general geographic area as has been done since the inception of 90 Minds. If we get an inquiry about custom programming, we would handle it in a similar fashion. I do not recall ever getting an inquiry about custom programming and I've been one of the people who gets those since 2010.

The original directory got pulled down because it was a lot of work to maintain because we were basically keeping three membership lists. And with new privacy laws like GDPR and the one that passed in California, we have to be careful about what information we share about our members, we are having to review what can be included.

I was guessing it was already on your "to-do" list, and appreciate the update!

I knew that @Robert Wood was the right person to reply. I think it's safe to say that we are all looking forward to the improvements that are being worked on.

Any ETA on the HL forum updates?  It has been under construction for quite a while now.

Also, rumor has it that you are now board president.  If my source is accurate, congratulations are in order.  If not, I need to get a better source.  Are you going to have a President's corner blog to keep us apprised of state of the Minds?  Also, how about a recap of what happened at MOTM 2020 in San Diego?  I did not attend because there was not enough value for me to justify the expense.  What did non attendees miss?  I also heard that there is talk about moving the event.  Are all members going to be surveyed about a venue change or just the ones that made the trek in early March?

@Jeff Schwenk didn't you hear? What happens at Meeting of the Minds stays at Meeting of the Minds?

Just kidding! Yes. I'm president. I owe the membership a lot of updates that haven't happened because I've been distracted by people saying stupid stuff on the internet. A lot of announcements are forthcoming shortly.

Frankly, Jeff, you missed one of the better MotMs of recent years in my opinion.

The attendees have been surveyed. Surveys will be going out to the membership at large later this week. There is a lot to figure out and with the uncertainty of Covid, it's become really difficult to get answers to be able to share answers.

I plan to get my first address posted up by the end of the week.
