  • 1.  90 Minds Board Retreat Recap: Growth, Gratitude, and What's Next for 90 Minds

    Posted 05-21-2025 14:37

    Hi Minds Members,

We recently wrapped one of the most productive and energizing board retreats yet, and I want to share what's ahead as we grow with intention, stay rooted in our Sage 100 community, and build toward a more connected, forward-thinking future.

    📍 Where We Met
The board gathered at Loews Coronado Bay Resort-the stunning venue for Meeting of the Minds 2026, perfectly situated between the San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean. While on-site, we also kicked off early conference planning. Trust me: it's shaping up to be one of our most beautiful and exciting MOTMs yet.

    🧭 What We Accomplished
This was a high-impact retreat. Together, the board:

    • Formalized roles and responsibilities to support smoother collaboration

    • Updated and aligned committee charters with clear goals and accountability

    • Expanded our committee structure, which now includes:
Membership, Education, Events, Nominations, Content Library, and a new Communications Committee
(Interested in getting involved? Email me!)

    • Approved a thoughtful expansion to include Sage Intacct through a dedicated track and committee.  It you are interested in this initiative, please reach out to me.

This expansion does not replace our Sage 100 focus-it enhances the value and cross-platform opportunities we offer our members. Expect to hear more from Gary in the coming days!

    🎉 Gratitude for the Board
None of this would be possible without the extraordinary leadership of your board. Please join me in thanking:

    • Gary Feldman, President – who kicked facilitator butt and knocked it out of the park

    • Chuck Peddy, Treasurer

    • Madeline Stefanou, Vice President

    • Dana Young, Secretary

    • Steve Iwanowski and Todd Martin, At-Large Members

    • And special thanks to Alan Clark, who joined as a wise and worthy advisor

Every member brought focus, energy, and vision to the table-and it showed.

    ✨ Welcome, Tina Leonard!
We're also thrilled to announce that Tina Leonard has been officially appointed as our newest Board Member At-Large. While Tina was not able to join us at the retreat, we're excited to welcome her leadership, insight, and contributions to the board. Tina already brings deep expertise and fresh perspective to our work in the Education Committee-please join us in giving her a warm welcome!

📰 On the Road – Sage Future
I'll be attending Sage Future this month on behalf of 90 Minds. If you're going, let's connect! If there's someone you'd like me to meet or a session you want coverage on, I'll be your boots on the ground. Let me know how I can represent our community best.

    💬 What's Next
This is a season of growth, alignment, and impact. Our goal is to make your membership more valuable, your connections deeper, and your voice more central. Stay tuned for more ways to get involved-and thank you for being an essential part of this amazing community.

    With appreciation,

Although voted in before the retreat, I view the meeting as the start of my tenure as President of 90 Minds.   Three primary objectives for the retreat were:

    1. Improve clarity of roles, responsibilities and procedures for the community.

    2. Set SMART goals for the 2025-2026 "Conference Year"

    3. Create a vision for the future of 90 Minds.

We didn't completely meet all of the objectives, but made progress towards all.   90 Minds has been evolving since the early days, has grown and has come a long way as an organization where 90 Minds are better than 1.  We  provide a space for our member community to engage, collaborate, socialize, learn, and succeed. We are "a community for members to Collaborate, Connect, and Grow through Engagement, Advocacy and Education."

We came away with a ton of to-do's and have already made progress on our action item list.

    • Templates for Standard Operating Procedures, Committee Charters and Position Descriptions have been established and all committees are working towards improved objectives and SMART Goals
    • We are formalizing the position of Board Liaison as a bi-directional communication mechanism between the BOD and the Committees.  It also clarifies that the role of the Board member on the committee is to empower the committee members and not manage.  The Committee Chairperson position is also being documented to provide greater guidance on the role, its responsibilities and expectations.
    • Our discussions on product diversification clarified our direction and inclusion of Sage Intacct in our community and MOTM.  This low risk, high reward opportunity was supported by the realization that less than 25% of our members are Sage 100 exclusive and many of them have become certified in other products to support their customers as they migrate from Sage 100.   This led to
      • A resolution to create an ad-hoc Intacct Advisory Steering Committee.  We are reaching out to leaders of current member firms who support Intacct to provide guidance to the Board regarding the value propositions 90 Minds can provide to their consulting members.
      • The choice of Tina Leonard to the Board.  Not only was Tina nominated, but she is also currently training in Sage Intacct CRE and will serve as the Board Liaison to the future Intacct community.

Anne is scheduling a Town Hall meeting some time after Sage Future where we can get your feedback on our thoughts and help shape the vision.  I have attached a more detailed summary which includes some of our target dates.
