Here are my notes on 64-bit Sage 100 and any existing issues. I know that several people have asked Sage about the uptake on Sage 100 64-bit. And to my memory the most anyone seems to get is a lot of Sage looking at their feet and shuffling around.

I believe the real question is what are the potential issues for installing 64-bit Sage 100 so that none of us go into an upgrade and have to re-do it.

Note: I know you can "run the utility" to switch 32 <-> 64 however in reviewing Sage City I note at least one comment from an experienced developer that they may uninstall the 64-bit entirely to try to track down an open issue.

Here's my notes on what I could find regarding open issues with 64-bit Sage 100.

Do you have anything to add/change? If so please leave a comment please and thanks.

64-Bit Sage 100 was first released as an option for Sage 100 2021.

Only if you are no longer using any earlier 32-bit versions of Sage 100 installed on the same computer, and if all of your Sage 100 workstations are running the 64-bit version of Windows

Sage City: Sage 100 2022 BOI unhandled exception in 64-bit sales order entry (June 13, 2023) - Possibly Resolved

Reportedly fixed in 2023 and 2022 latest PU per Russell Libby (Sage) - It affects v2022 and v2023 in x64 mode only, and due to the nature of the issue is usually only reproducible when using COM/BOI against a Premium installation. PU4 for 2022 and PU1 for 2023 (July timeframe) will address this issue.

Sage City: User Defined Script Method "InvokeButton" Fails with "Cannot create Windows Script OCX object" in 2023 64-Bit! (July 13, 2023 ) - Open

This initial error had to do with some files not getting registered on installation. It was resolved by running the "..\sage\Common Components\RegCom64.bat" file. even though the included AES.EXE command was not recognized.

This has been isolated to a 2 line button script that uses oScript.InvokeButton followed by oUIObj.HandleScriptUI()

I have also encountered this error with a button script on 2023 64-bit. From what I can tell, it is due to the fact that Microsoft never released a 64-bit version of msscript.ocx

    Reported by End-User 8/10/23 - iSolved - https://www.isolvedhcm.com/

an issue more than once with 64 bit when it came to syncing with iSolved for direct deposit. In the most recent issue a couple of weeks ago, Sage ended up having to uninstall 64-bit and reinstall 32-bit to get it working. The other time was a few years ago but also had to do with 32 vs 64 bit and syncing from any workstation other than on the server itself

Sage says that you can't have 32-bit and 64-bit running on the same machine, so if you are doing the software install early, on a same-server upgrade, you are pretty much stuck with 32-bit (for the install) unless that changes.

Yeah, I don't get that.  I have 2023 in 64 bit on my machine and can successfully run the prior versions in 32 bit.

I'm guessing there are specific features that break, not necessarily the whole program... dll's are typically architecture specific.

This is a deal breaker for me to even try the 64bit if it breaks all the old versions I have installed.

Beth can you expand on your experience?

What functionality have you tried in your older versions after installing the 64bit?

Well, looks like I did NOT try printing, because the older version won't print.  I'm ASSUMING that is caused by the 64 bit and not by the new Crystal runtime...

@Beth Bowers, @Eric Lunceford, I think it's the Crystal Runtime.  I have 2023 Std 64-Bit installed next to 2022 32-bit and that broke the printing in 2022 (Error 200's). I also have 2023 Std 32-Bit installed next to 2022 32-bit and that also broke the printing (with "xxxxx.RPT is not found or does not exits"). Printing breaks appear to follow the new Crystal drivers and not the 32/64-Bit architecture.

Thank you, @Dan Burleson for that confirmation!  So then I don't know what else to test in 64 vs 32 - I can get into screen just fine.
