  • 1.  64 bit ODBC Driver, 4 companies, all hold login except 1

Customer is on 2019.  2 users now have the 64 bit ODBC driver installed.  User #1 created an ODBC DSN for each of 4 companies and inputted logon information (company code, user, pw).  His Excel queries all run successfully without prompting for a login.  User #2 also has the 4 DSNs with his login information.  He can run 3 of the 4 queries successfully but the 4th keeps asking for company/user/pw.  Doesn't matter if we use User #1's login information or User #2's information.  We keep getting the prompt for company/user/pw.
We even removed the problem DSN and recreated and still no go.  Tried creating a new query using the problem DSN and it errored out too.  The DSN 'test connection' tests successfully too without a prompt for login.
Allow External Access is checked in all companies, both users have Admin Rights to all companies.
Any thoughts on what would cause 1 DNS to be problematic?

    Thanks
    N

How is Excel querying the data?
    Through MS Query or PowerQuery?
    1. If MS Query, how are the connection strings set up?
      1. Is the option to save credentials checked?
        1. If yes, check the string for incorrect or missing UID, PWD, and/or Company parameters.
    2. If PowerQuery, check Windows Saved Credentials to see if a credential was previously saved for the connection with an incorrect company, user, and/or password.

At first I thought maybe this was similar to what @Dan Burleson was experiencing about a month back but I'm not sure if it's an exact match. Dan had a pretty thorough post on Sage City and it also involved 64-bit ODBC

I agree with David, except this is clearly a MS Query situation. It doesn't matter if the credentials are correct in the ODBC DSN because they are overridden by what is in the query. Check the "Definition" tab of the query's properties and ensure that the credentials are correct there. They would have been copied from the ODBC DSN when the query was created which could be different than what they are now. You could be getting a successful test in the ODBC control panel, but the credentials in the query could be different and are overriding.
