4.5 anyone? How long do you typically wait before recommending that your clients upgrade? In the past we've typically waited a month or two (at least), and then we would start with smaller installs or clients that woudn't be as impacted by the upgrades. But I'm assuming 4.5 will be more like 4.3, an enhancement upgrade - so hopefully it's not too buggy.

In my mind (beta tester & early adopter) there isn't much difference between v4.5 and what I would call v4.4 SU 7. For the most part, Sage just threw their final extended solution enhancement pack at it, added a one user license of Sage CRM and called it a full release update. Not many WAD fixes but there are a significant number of bug fixes (325 by my count. I really don't see anything to hold back for. V4.5 allows you to install over the v4.4 folder, so there isn't a lot of issues with relinking file attachments. If the client is a heavy hitter with SMI, you are out of luck as they haven't released the v4.5 version of SMI yet. For the smaller installs, I say go for it.

I usually wait until I read here that someone has installed it and found the process relatively bug free. In general about a month for minor upgrades. More if people report trouble.

While like Wayne we usually plan on a month or two, that usually goes out the window when 2 or 3 clients see something in the new version they really want (maybe Master Bill To/National Accounts in v4.5 release) and force the upgrade earlier. Once we see those go fine, we start pushing it out to other clients.
