How is a 401(k)-company match set up.  Example:  The company matches the 401(k) contributions up to 20,000.  How do we set up the employer contribution and ensure that if the employee can only contribute $15,000 then the employer contribution is also only limited to $15,000?

AFAIK, it works the same as the employee deduction.  I am unaware of any synchronization between the two.  Big headache is when employee has multiple 401K deduction (pretax/roth.%age/Fixed) and combined there is a maximum deduction...
