3.71 issue

    HI All,
      Have a client that is installing 3.71 to some Windows 10 workstations (I was just brought in to troubleshoot this issue, I have already told them they should not expect to be able to continue with this arrangement.)  They report that they have several installs that work fine but on a couple of the workstations.if you do a lookup (customer, inventory, vendor) the screen closes almost immediately   Does anyone have any thoughts on this?   Make sure the install was done from a mapped drive and as administrator.

    Try changing the compatibility mode to Windows XP or one of the other options in the shortcut properties, compatibility tab.

    Similar to Doug's though - perhaps check screen resolution which seems like it periodically can cause odd issues.
    I doubt that this is the cause but something to check.

    Bob - Setting to Windows 7 or earlier compatibility mode on the Mas90 shortcut is a good idea. On 3.x if the screen resolution was "too high" it guaranteed that doing a Preview from any report from any Reports menu (which were not Crystal reports back then b/c those were on the Custom Reports menu) would error out. Verify that happens here and assuming that is a show stopper, lower the screen resolution to 1024x768 temporarily, and once it works keep setting it higher until it breaks again. One you have the highest resolution set, which they will scoff at, try the ALE lookups. If it still doesn't work but the lookups work in say ABC or any other small company, then contact me.

      @Doug Higgs, should have mentioned that I did set the compatibility to XP sp2.  @Wayne Schulz I will suggest this.  They did not show me the computers that do work (they have 3 that do and 2 that do not).  @Alnoor Cassim I will have them try the lookups (to be 100% clear, the issue is that when they click the magnifying glass, the screen comes up and closes in about 1-2 seconds) in a sample company, but as they work on other computers, not sure it is the company data that is the issue.  I am wondering if there is an ALE issue that could be tied to their FID ID, I was looking at the TSRG and did not see anything obvious.  Could a corrupt sy0ctl file/records cause the issue?   One other sort of odd thing, they have no users setup. ​​​

    Hi All,
      Circling back on this issue. Have tried some of these steps with no success.  (compatibility modes, reinstall of client, screen resolution)   I was talking to one of their IT people and he said they had this issue in the past and it was resolved by deleting a file off the server (this is MAS90, not 200)   Anyone have any idea what file(s) this might be?

    Maybe the pvx.ini in the windows directory? Use to get Activation Key issues if it found and picked up the wrong pvx.ini or it didn't point to the right path for mas90/home/lib.

    UAC would also cause issues as well as other permissions to the files.

     

    If the issue was that it auto closed in 1-2 seconds after opening, I thought I had reported an issue on the forum about that. It was something missing that needed to be installed or another program that was killing the connection if it was being used. I tried to find it but I couldn't. May have been too long ago for the forum search. Anyone else remember what I was thinking about? Big Louie?

    I don't think this applies to 3.71 but FWIW - Sage 100 Desktop Launcher opens after logging in, then closes immediately with no error

    Resolution

    Someone broadcast a system shut down from the Master Console, but has not terminated the shutdown.

    Any one of the following will resolve this issue:

    1. Find the workstation where the shutdown was broadcast from and press the 'OK' button.
    2. Rename the 'Sage 100" folder under documents.
    3. Retrieve the "..\MAS90\MAS_SYSTEM\SY_System.m4t" from a recent backup, prior to the shutdown attempt.
    4. Access a different Sage 100 installation (if available), then use the Data File Display and Maintenance utility to Open and Edit the "..\MAS90\MAS_SYSTEM\SY_System.m4t" file in the problem installation, changing the BroadcastShutdown$ field from Y to N
      • Note: Sage 100 Customer Support can obtain a copy of the file, edit it, then return the file

    Could the files they deleted be SY_Workstation and SY_Console? Those get recreated on first login.

    Hi Kenny,

       Those files don't exist in 3.71.  Also the issue is not the client closing (or not launching) the only issue is when they click the magnifying glass to do a lookup.  Then MAS90 closes – BUT only for some users. Everyone else is ok.
