They are running our credit and since we have been in good standing with the Sheraton, a Marriott property, we'll likely be approved without advanced deposits required. Else normal deposits, but less than last year's will apply.
The method of payment of the Master Account will be established upon approval of 90 Minds Consulting Group credit. If credit is approved, the outstanding balance of 90 Minds Consulting Group's Master Account (less any advance deposits and exclusive of disputed charges) will be due and payable upon receipt of invoice.
In the event that credit is not approved, 90 Minds Consulting Group agrees to pay an advance deposit in an amount to be determined by the Hotel in its reasonable discretion, with the full amount due prior to the start of the group's event. 50% of estimated total revenue 6 weeks prior to event, remaining estimate 7 days prior to arrival. We have plenty of time.
Our rooms include, general session, two break-out rooms, three connected rooms for the exhibit halls one with a private patio, and a conference room office (yay!). We have a couple great areas for evening events too.
A/V was based on 2020 event, since it's the same group PSAV, they looked up our agreement from this year and quoted the same. Spend ~27K

Thumbs up. This looks great and meets a lot of the needs that we have had in the past and also able to continue some of the things that were good about the hotel in San Diego. Well done.

We had various proposals from Newport Beach, Long Beach, and Huntington Beach hotels. Most properties were offering incentives to book before year-end. The room rates go up significantly after 1/1/2021. Unfortunately, several of the properties did not have our dates available. Some had January/Early-February, April, or weren't available at all for the time frame.
Completed two site visits both properties had our preferred dates, March 3 - 5, 2022
Marriott Newport Beach - located by Fashion Island in Newport Beach
Hyatt Regency - located by the 'Back bay' Newport Beach
The Hyatt was an interesting property with an outdoor amphitheater, 9-hole executive golf course, multiple buildings, and Back Bay views. It was similar to the Hilton that we held the 2017 MOTM at, and I felt the property was spread out, remote, and lacked near-by restaurants for after-hours/off-site gatherings. It was a bit old too, dated back to 1960, the first hotel in the area. It was an interesting property, but it didn't fit our needs.
Marriott Newport Beach was ideal. Having a connected conference center on the ground floor with ample meeting space and space available for our Exhibit hall, which I promised the Affiliates for MOTM 2022. The property sits across the street from Fashion Island, and has views of the Pacific, Newport Beach Country Club, and is a 15-minute ride from Orange Country airport. Ben Stinnett of NB Marriott toured me through the rooms, conference center, Rose Garden, Pool Terrace, and Fountain Courtyard was. We explored the Thursday evening reception options (Sunset facing Oceanview), Friday sessions and exhibit space, and Saturday evening closing reception. The hotel will be updating the interior rooms starting 1/1/2021 that will be complete before the conference. They also have a 'life-size' chessboard, Jenga, (and another game), great for team building. @Robert Wood has wanted us to include fun activities for in-person board meetings, and these life-size games may fit the bill.
The room rate for guests IF WE SIGN BEFORE DEC 31, 2020, will be approx. $ 239-night average and we could get $189 for moving the dates a bit. After Jan 1, the room rate increase significantly.
I think this sets up the board/90 Minds with a great hotel, location, and price for MOTM 2022. Attached is the quote. We are still in final negotiations and likely to have some favorable changes. However, it's what I have right now for your review.
When I spoke with the events team at Sage on their Diamond Sponsorship, I mentioned we are considering the Marriott Newport Beach for 2022. Geoff Merten said it was a great property and used by Sage Executives when they are in town. The hotel is about 15 -20 minutes drive from Sage.

Here is a Long Beach airport update 12/11/2020. It makes getting to our 2022 MOTM that much easier - LBX is about 15 - 30 mins from the venues that are being reviewed:
More Reach for Long Beach
This week, two airlines announced six new destinations that will be serviced with nonstop flights from Long Beach Airport. Hawaiian Airlines announced that it will begin daily, nonstop service from Long Beach Airport (LGB) to Kahului Airport (OGG) in Maui, beginning in March 2021. Additionally, Southwest Airlines announced that it will begin daily, nonstop flights from Long Beach Airport (LGB) to five new cities, beginning in March 2021. The new destinations, which significantly enhance nationwide connections from LGB, are Chicago (MDW), Dallas (DAL), Houston (HOU), Reno (RNO) and St. Louis (STL).
Note: I was very happy to hear the Hawaii flight is non-stop. :)
