    Technology: Basics of Scripting with Alnoor Cassim
    This full day session is an introductory class covering basic concepts of scripting in Sage 100. It is generally designed but not limited to the more technically oriented consultant in your organization who has a working knowledge or better of Custom Office / Customizer but brand new to Visual Basic (VB) Scripting or just recently introduced to it. It is also valuable for those wanting to identify if a customer’s need for a programming modification can be done with Scripting instead. After covering part of the morning on concepts, the rest of the day will be spent doing scripting labs and activities.
    Business: Negotiation Workshop with Scott Tillema
    Scott Tillema is an FBI-trained hostage negotiator and senior associate of the NC. He is a nationally recognized leader in the field of crisis and hostage negotiation, training thousands of law enforcement negotiators across the country, and around the world. Scott has developed a model of hostage negotiation which has now been adapted to suit the needs of the private sector in sales, communications, influence, and leadership. This interactive workshop will teach and inspire attendees to find negotiation excellence in their personal and professional lives. Pre-Sessions:

    Hey! How did we get Scott Tillema? He's very high profile. I checked out his website, scotttillema.com and I'm super excited for this session. Anything that helps with communication and sales is much appreciated! (I've never thought about taking my prospects hostage.) Kudos to whoever arranged this. Was it you, @Anne Sawyer?

    This will about as close to "normal life" as we've experienced in a long time. (I'm relieved we could move it out of March this year.)

    If you're not a fit for the scripting class, I encourage everybody to sit in the Negotiations class. It is not just for sales people. We endure all sorts of situations every day where a little negotiating could produce happier outcomes for both. Frankly, every customer request/demand for help warrants some negotiating to make the best of it, yet most technical consultants shy away from engaging meaningfully. Ed Kless has talked about over the years (those Golden Questions), but it's still a habit to be developed. Maybe Newport Beach is the place for you to refine yours.

    Anne, when do you expect to have an outline of the scripting class, and a first pass of the regular sessions?

    I am so excited for this year's event.  I think we would all like to get to the "new normal" which will include the benefits from in-person networking, ad-hoc meetings and getting to see new products and versions as or before they are released!
