Fellow 90 Minders,
With our virtual 90 Minds event nearly here, we also have an election coming up. Because we are virtual, we will be voting electronically. You will be getting an email tomorrow with a personalized link for your vote. The email will come from an electionbuddy.com email address. It should be pretty straightforward but if you have any questions or don't get the email, reach out to me directly at RobertW@ddfcgi.com or you can email membership@90minds.com and we will get your situation resolved. Once you receive your ballot, voting will begin immediately and will be left open until 4:00 pm EST on Friday, March 5 so that we can tally the votes and announce the results at the State of the Minds session at the end of Friday.
What will we be voting on? Alan Clark stepped in to take the vacant seat that John Hoyt left two years ago and his term is coming to an end. Alan is a valuable voice on the board but he doesn't feel like he can continue to serve in the capacity of a full board member. We have asked him to stick around as an ex officio board member. He won't get a vote but he can advise us and help guide us.
How does this process work? In the fall, we look for nominations. Any interested nominee will fill out an application which is then reviewed by the nominations committee who then after vetting the nominees gives a slate of nominees to the board who then present the slate to the membership. The membership then votes whether to accept that slate or not. The board positions are three-year terms.
The current officer roles are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. In past years, we have conditionally elected officers because the board wasn't going to be able to meet right after the membership election. This year, after the members' vote, the board will meet and vote on officer positions. We will announce those officers on Higher Logic next week. Officer positions are elected for one-year terms.
This year, I'm excited to announce the nominee to fill Alan's seat on the board will be Kate Krueger. I've known Kate for 9 years next week. She's volunteered with 90 Minds for the last several years, prominently helping with Meeting of the Minds. She will bring a great energy and a different perspective to the board.
Be sure to look for those ballots in your email Thursday morning and get them submitted.
