2016 PU1. Customer wants every sales order to default to an order type quote. They also want the quote expire date to default to 90 days after the quote date. Is there a way to do this other than a script or source code modification?

Change the default settings prior to starting??

That will default the order type to a quote but how do you then get the quote expire date to default to 90 days after the quote date? I tried setting the default order type to quote and also changed the setup option to set the quote expire date to 90 days after the order date. Those settings just set the quote expire date to the quote date.. no 90 date increment.

Congrats - you found a bug. If you manually change the type from SO to Quote the 90 days thing from the Setup Options works. If you have it default to Quote, it does not.

Oh boy. That is what I figured, and that sucks.

Sage has verified this as a defect and written this up. It was previously unreported. Hoping for a high priority bug fix because the default expire date setup option is a new feature in 2016.

Really???? Not the usual WAD designation? I can't wait for a fix.... The bigger question is whether the default setting change holds from session to session or does it change as well. Also, is this a universal change for everyone or a user based setting.

Yep.. Talked with John Monsen in Sage tech support. I have a case open and he declared it a ""product defect"", wrote it up, and sent it to engineering. My bet is this isn't considered a critical issue so a hot fix won't be delivered. However, since it is associated with a new 2016 feature that isn't working properly they may put the fix in the next PU or version release. The default settings stick from session to session.. as designed. Of course, the SO setup option is universal. The default SO option is by user.. and seems to be working by user. The issue is that when the SO option is set to increment the quote expire date by a given interval, it doesn't work if the quote is set as the default order type.
