  • 1.  12/31 Payroll 2.x Checks Wrong

    Posted 12-09-2019 12:24
One of our small accounts that does everything way ahead of time discovered that processing a payroll check in 2.19.4 with a check date of 12/31/2019 withholds too much in federal withholding.  We have recreated the issue and Sage is currently testing.  If you process a payroll check with a check date of 12/30/2019, everything works as expected.  If you process a payroll check with a check date of 12/31/2019, it treats the withholding as single and zero allowances for all checks.  Thus, federal withholding is too much except for those that are setup as single and zero allowances.  I'll update this post once we hear back from Sage.

Sage has recreated the issue and has quickly escalated.  Waiting to hear what will happen next.

Is there a Sage KB on this (couldn't find).

    Thanks for the post

Update:  Sage is working on a hot fix and is trying to get it added to the 2.20.0 Payroll Product Update.  I do not know of a KB number being assigned yet.  I'm assuming this impacts all 2.xx versions since we have verified it is an issue with 2.18 and 2.19.  I would recommend advising all customers not to process any payroll checks with a 12/31/2019 check date until the hot fix has been released/installed.

Thanks for the info.  Not good, yet glad it is over withheld.  It would be bad news if there were under withholding penalties.
