123 Go ... do you have a concise document you send in response to these type inquiries? I find that unless Sage 100 maint > Sage 100c sub or the customer absolutely needs one of the specific benefits (SIA, SI, platform change) then the conversation tends to be difficult especially since there is very little Sage collateral to answer the questions. Wayne, I'm about to write up a PO for our annual Sage maintenance. Can you tell me what some of the features of Sage 100c? If we did want to move to the c version is there an installation process and or charge involved? If we moved to the c version is the annual maintenance more than what we are currently quoted?

I have a basic email template I start with, and then modify based on the customer. Here's some of the basics of it. *** An intro paragraph specific to the customer always goes first, and then the following... In case you are not familiar with 100c, here is some information about it: https://www.sage.com/en-us/products/sage-100/ You can also review the 100c brochure here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b0237itd1l00er0/Sage%20100c%20Brochure.pdf?dl=0 The primary difference between your perpetual license and the subscription is that you must keep your subscription current/active or the product will become read-only. You have been renewing your business care plan consistently every year that I do not believe this is a concern. The only other caveat to the subscription is that you must pay Sage directly by credit card or bank debit (ACH). Let us know if you have any questions or would like to discuss. If you would like to move forward with the subscription, I will have Holly send you a link via DocuSign that can be completed electronically. *** Again, depending on the customer, I might be more detailed instead so matter of fact. For customers who always renew their business care plan, it seems to make perfect sense to migrate to 100c and be done with it. For those who do not, it is much more difficult sell.

No document, but when the construction industry tanked with the 2008 crash, some of our customers continued to run their Sage 100 perpetual (off maintenance) and were able to stay in business with that software until the industry turned around. They re-instated after 6+ years. Owning the software has that advantage. Imagine if business-times were hard and your accounting system went into ""locked"" mode. Startups have the opposite advantage with subscription of not having to buy expensive software if their company is in start-up/test mode.

I'm now up against the users where their Sage 100 perpetual is less than Sage 100c and the ""keep the maintenance the same"" credit appears to have vanished or require some arm wrestling. These conversations are much more difficult. TL;DR: The low hanging fruit ( ie - Sage 100 maintenance was considerably higher than 100c) are largely gone from my farm. Now I'm seeing people where Sage 100 perpetual is less than 100c and there's not as compelling a reason to switch.

I had one recently where perpetual was almost $2K less than 100c. I told Holly Coates the situation and explained why Sage really should be offering a discount or at least an even swap for 100c, she was able to get management to approve the even swap. I leave it to the customer to make the decision.

That's great until the customer asks ""what about year 2"". There is a need for a clear policy statement from Sage here. If the EULA 10% clause applies to credits then why not make an FAQ and get this whole thing done with.

Sage wants to keep the policy fluid, @WayneSchulz.
