I have a customer who upgraded from 2016 to 2023.

During the time they were on 2016 they managed all their 1099-MISC manually.

Now that they're upgraded to 2023.x they want to start using 1099-NEC reporting

I tried to use the 1099 Utility ( here ) and was greeted with "This utility is no longer available"

    Have I missed a step? ( I was running AP_Update1099s_Utl")

Or do I need to use VI to export out the 1099-MISC and import to the 1099-NEC fields?

Since that utility has gone MIA I've been running File > Run > SY_1099Maint_ui.  This brings up a screen where you choose 2023, NEC, and Box 1.  This makes it so that NEC Box 1 is AVAILABLE but it doesn't change your vendors.

I then export all Misc Box 7 vendors and import them as NEC Box 1 in AP_Vendor, and then import the amounts into NEC Box 1 in AP_Vendor1099Payments.  I don't import zeros for Misc Box 7 because this import doesn't work, I don't recall what it does but I ended up having to zero them out manually; but now I just leave those amounts in there because there's no reason to take them out.

If someone has a more efficient way I would love to hear about it!

The utility appears in the \Utility folder - it seems like it won't run on my v2023 data.

I'm thinking that exporting and importing the data is going to be the way to go - although another option is just tell them to wait until 2024 and re-configure their vendors to use 1099-NEC
